Inventory segmentation (INVD4401)

Related topics

This program allows you to segment the item/warehouse combinations in this selection according to the volume value and movability classes that you defined in Work with volume value codes and Work with movability codes. In addition, it can update the volume value code and the movability code in the Inventory management item file for each item/warehouse combination in the selection.

Some of the parameters used in the segmentation are defined in the IC control file. They are the segmentation price, what the percentage value will be based on, how the movability limit value is defined and whether items are segmented within each warehouse or on the company level.

The basis for this segmentation is the information in the Forecast file, demand quantity and number of movements, along with price information to calculate volume value.

The items are segmented into the classes defined here when Inventory segmentation is executed. For each item/warehouse combination, a volume value code and a movability code is assigned in the Inventory management item file.

The segmentation can also be done for dependent items, i.e. items that are part of other items. This is only applicable for production controlled items. The IC segmentation calculation can consider dependent demand in relation to volume value codes and movability if desires. Segment the item/warehouse combinations according to the volume value and movability classes that you defined in Work with volume value codes and Work with movability codes.

Update segm codes
Set to YES if you want to update the segmentation codes in the Inventory management item file for items in the warehouses selected below. If you do not want to update these codes, leave NO in this field. In this case, a report is produced but there is no update of the segmentation codes. This field must be set to YES if the Print report field below is set to NO.
Print report only
A report will always be created when you run this routine. This field must be set to YES if the Update segm codes field above is set to NO, and only the report will be printed.
Historical sales prc
If you set this flag to YES, and the Segmentation price field in the Work with IC control file is set to 2 (= Sales price) or 3 (= Margin), then the average sales price is calculated from the Invoice/sales statistics file. Note that only invoiced lines are included in the average sales price calculation.

Selection

  • Warehouse
Note: If the segmentation is performed at the company level and not the warehouse level, then this field is not open for entry.
  • Volume value code
Note: This selection is valid only for printing the segmentation report, not the actual segmentation.
  • Item class
  • Valid item classes are:

  • Item type
Only shown if DC1 Manufacturing is installed.
  • Valid item types are:

  • Period
You can include any historical period up to and including the current period. Note that the actual classification will be based upon what has happened only in the selected forecast periods, using the data in the Forecast file only for the selected periods.
Details
Set to YES if you want this report to contain detail level information for each item. Set to NO if you want this report to contain summary level information. On the summary level you will only see information for each volume value class and no information per item/warehouse.
Use production demand
These settings control whether to use production demand in segmentation calculation. This is only applicable for items used as material in production orders.
Volume value code
Indicate if dependent items should be segmented according to the volume value codes defined in Work with volume value codes.
Movability
Indicate if dependent items should be segmented according to the movability codes defined in Work with movability codes.
