Components in the structure can refer to either variable items or fixed items.
- Select the Work with configurator bill of material menu item.
- You access Work with configurator BOM. Select the applicable bill of material and click Change.
- You access Configurator BOM maintenance. Click Add to add components to the bill of material.
- On the detail panel, complete the following fields:
- Sequence number
- Enter a number within a 10-interval sequence, indicating in which order the item is to be presented in the structure.
- Type
- Enter a code indicating if the item is fixed or variable. Permitted values are: V = Variable (configurator parameter), F = Fixed (real item).
- Component
- For variable items, enter a code identifying a configuration parameter. For fixed items, enter a code identifying a real item.
- Quantity
- Enter the quantity used for the component item.
- Quantity formula
- Enter a formula to be used to calculate the quantity of the component item to be included in the generated bill of material. (For example: Component quantity * Quantity on order.)
- Set-up quantity
- The fixed set-up quantity for materials. This set-up quantity can be deemed as an estimated reservation that you plan on consuming for the machine set-up before real production, and is independent of the order’s quantity. When manufacturing orders are entered, the components required quantity is calculated as follows: order quantity x component quantity + fixed set-up quantity.
Example:
Fixed set-up quantity = 10
Order quantity = 5
Component quantity = 1
Component required quantity = 15 - Calculate weight
- Indicate if the component’s weight, gross weight and net weight should be added to the weight of the configured item. If you set this field to YES, the weight will be updated on the sales order item line.
- Note: Weight calculation is not used for the configuration of order structure items.
- Allocation warehouse
- This field is only displayed if DC1 Manufacturing is installed and activated and if Main whs mtrl alloc is set to YES in the MFG control file. Enter the warehouse in which the item is to be reserved for the manufacturing order.
If the STKOWNER (Stock Ownership) function is activated in the Function control file, the warehouse entered must be classified as a normal or trade (logical) warehouse (i.e. the Warehouse characteristic flag in Work with warehouses must be set to 1 (normal) or 2 (trade). See About the stock ownership functionality for more information.
- If the component is defined as a fixed item, you return to the initial Configurator BOM maintanence panel. See step 5.
- If the component is defined as a variable item, the attributes connected to the selected parameter are displayed. Since no real item is defined in advance, the system will have to search for the component to be included for each attribute.
- Test
- Enter a code indicating what test operand should be used when comparing the attribute values selected at product configuration with those defined for the configurator parameter in the Value from-to field on the Configurator item maintenance panel.
- Note: If left blank or the attribute does not exist (blank) for the parent item, this attribute will not be used when searching for component items.
- You return to the initial Configurator BOM maintenance panel. The bill of material is updated and all components are displayed. On this panel you have several options. You can:
- Click Add to add more components.
- Select a component and click Change to change that component.
Refer to the Panel help for details about the remaining fields. Click OK when you have completed all relevant fields. What happens next depends on the code defined in the Component field.
The Test column on this panel, in combination with the Value from-to field on the Configurator item maintenance panel, is used to define the conditions that allow a component to be added to the generated bill of material. The component will only be added to the bill of material if the values that are selected at product configuration meet the defined conditions. Complete the following:
Click OK when you have entered the test codes.
Exit the routine.
