From one menu item, (i.e. Work with inventory), you can handle all adjustments and movements for normal inventory, transit inventory and NCC inventory by selecting the applicable task you want to work with. See Selecting the inventory-related task below.
All inventory transactions for the selected warehouse are available via two different views:
- Locations: This view for location balances is only applicable if DC1 Warehouse Management (WHM) is activated for the selected warehouse and is the view displayed when you first access this routine.
- Item/warehouse: If DC1 Warehouse Management (WHM) is not activated for the selected warehouse, this item balance view is the view displayed when you first access this routine.
For each view you can toggle two different modes:
- All records
- Transactions in error: This mode is only applicable if the inventory transaction was sent from an external client. See Update and validation from external client below.
The inventory-related routines are also used when inventory transactions from other internal processes need to be validated and updated. Examples of this include:
- Re-stock actions from DC1 Request and Returns
- Quality Control reporting from DC1 Request and Returns
- Inventory transactions from CMI processes like Ownership transfer
Update and validation from external client
The inventory-related routines support the update and validation from an external client, e.g., Iptor WM1. If the DC1 WMS Interface application is activated in DC1, the stock situation can be sent to DC1 from the external client. If the transactions received for the warehouse are in error, the user will automatically access “Transaction in error” mode when they select the warehouse from the initial Work with inventory panel. Examples of errors include:
- Erroneous number of decimals
- Standard cost price in the Item file is zero
- The inventory transaction lacks information (e.g., a transaction for a batch item was sent but the batch ID was not supplied)
Selecting the inventory-related task
You must select the task you need to work with. All tasks are available behind options. Tasks include:
Correct | Only displayed in Transactions in error mode. Select this option to correct errors created from external files. |
Display | Select this option to view the Inventory details. |
Inventory adjustment | Only displayed in All records mode. Select this option if you want to perform a stock adjustment, i.e. increase or decrease the amount of stock in a warehouse without printing any documents, (e.g. if you want to scrap an item or pick something out for a demo).
Serialized tracking when decreasing stock for batch controlled items Transit stock See the Related topics below for the applicable task you want to perform. |
Warehouse movement | Only displayed in All records mode. Select this option if you want to move normal or transit stock to another warehouse.
Serialized tracking for batch controlled items |
NCC move | Only displayed in All records mode. Select this option to manage inventory movements to NCC stock, from NCC stock or between different NCC categories. Only allowed for Trade and Normal warehouses. See About non-conformity stock. |
Create pallet | Only displayed from the Locations view and in All records mode. Select this option to create new pallets from existing stock units in a location. |
Display error | Only displayed in Transactions in error mode. Select this option to view error details from external files. All transactions sent from an external client are stored in the WMS transaction log file. Depending on the type of error, you can manually correct the error in this routine if applicable, or click the Retry option from the WMS transaction log (for the transaction) if the DC1 WMS Interface application is activated. If the error is caused because of a lack of information, the error should ideally be corrected in the external client if possible; else in this routine after communication with the warehouse personnel. |
Cost type FIFO
If the cost type, specified in the DIS control file, is FIFO (First In First Out), you have the possibility to define the cost price for each inventory transaction you enter. Using cost type FIFO means that every time you add goods to stock (by purchasing or manual transactions), the system creates a FIFO transaction with an individual cost price. When goods are withdrawn from stock (by sales or manual transactions), the system searches for the oldest active FIFO transaction to get the cost price for that transaction.
Transactions created
The transactions created are immediately updated throughout the system for the time axis and stock on hand value for the warehouse involved in the transaction. All transactions entered are stored in the Inventory transaction file which you can view at any time through the Inventory transaction enquiry.
