On this panel you enter the values for the key(s) defined in the active balance enquiry template.
- Balance/Budget enquiry: You retrieve the balances and/or budget information for all valid periods in the selected year(s). You can also drill down to any associated enquiry programs to view the applicable lower-level details. In this mode, you can generate as many enquiries as you want against the same template in one session, differentiating them by the key value you enter. You also have the option to accumulate the retrieved balance/budget totals for each generation.
- Balance/Budget Query Group: Before running this type of enquiry you can narrow down the information you want to retrieve for the keys in the template. You do this by defining a query group where you filter the selections for the Periods and Keys you want to use. You then choose your key value(s) on this panel and click Query groups to select the applicable query group. The balances and/or budgets you retrieve are based on your filtered information.
There are two types of query groups:
- Normal query groups where you define specific values against which you want to retrieve data for any of the keys defined in the template.
- Quick query groups that you can define on the fly. The name of this query group is automatically generated by the system (i.e. your user profile id). This type of query group is defined in the same manner as the normal. The advantage, however, is that the query selections are specific for your user profile only, allowing you to change your filter on the fly.
Note: You can secure both types of query groups from access, meaning no one else will be able to see your query groups.

Balance/Budget enquiry or Balance/Budget query groups (ANLD0014)
Note: This panel can only be accessed from the DC1 5250 and JWalk environments.
The name of this panel depends on its access. If you selected a query group before running the actual enquiry, the name will be Balance/Budget query groups and the query group name is displayed in the panel subheading.

What you can do on this panel
On this panel you can view the balance and budget information per accounting period for the values selected according to the active balance enquiry template.
You can read the information as follows:
- The first line displays the total values per column type and key combination. Total = the total of the opening balances and periods selected.
- The second line displays the opening balance, if any, for balance types that support opening balances and for balance accounts only. If you generated a “normal” Balance/Budget enquiry, the Opening balance = the values for the previous year.
- If you generated a Balance/Budget Query Group enquiry, the Opening balance = the values before the first period in your selection for the applicable year(s).
- The remaining lines display the period values.
If you have created opening balance transactions in the Close accounting period routine for the last period, these will not be displayed on the opening balance line in this enquiry. They are included in the total for the first accounting period, but can be displayed in the G/L transactions enquiry as automatically generated opening balance transactions.
Note: To drill down to specific balance details for a column value, place the cursor on a column value and click Transactions/Trn.
If you place the cursor on an opening balance line in one of the columns, the system will pass period “blank” (= previous years) as “from” period and the period up until last year’s period 12 or 13 as “to” period, depending on what has been defined in the G/L control file.
Depending on which mode you are in and you place the cursor in an accumulated column, the system will retrieve the values from different periods.
- If you generate a “normal” Balance/Budget enquiry, the system will pass period 01 as “from” period and the period on which the cursor was placed as the “to” period. The periods are passed to the next level where you can make further selections to retrieve values.
- If you generate a Balance/Budget Query Group enquiry, the system will pass the “from” period which has been defined in the template as “from” period and the period on which the cursor was placed as the “to” period.
Depending on what has been defined in Transaction pgm for the active balance enquiry template, you can drill down to view the specific balance transactions. If a default transaction enquiry program for the template has been defined, you will directly access that enquiry. If no default has been defined, and the balance types entered on the template belong to the same transaction program, the correct enquiry program will be called. If not, you will access a panel where you can select either of the G/L Transaction enquiry, A/R Transaction enquiry, A/P Transaction enquiry and/or DIS invoice enquiry.
When running the Balance/Budget enquiry, you can generate as many enquiries as you want against the same template in one session, differentiating them by the key value that you enter. You also have the option to accumulate the retrieved balance/budget totals. This is done by clicking Add to add the selected balance or budget values. If you want to remove any added values for one enquiry, click Subtract. To display the total of the summed values in the columns, click Totals. To clear the calculated total, click Clear.
Note: To access the function keys for addition/subtraction, you have to click Toggle.
