The ePedigree functionality, which is applicable for US installations of DC1 Pharma, tracks the origin of prescription drugs through an electronic pedigree and provides data on the history of a particular batch of a drug. When the system is set up, this tracking is done during the reception and dispatching of batch- and date controlled items.
On the reception side, Pedigree ID’s are automatically generated when purchase order lines, holding batch/date controlled items activated for ePedigree tracking, are received for suppliers that are also activated for ePedigree tracking.
On the dispatch side, consumption is done from the Pedigree ID’s when sales order lines, holding items activated for ePedigree tracking, are picked for customers that are also activated for ePedigree tracking. When confirming the pick list line for the batch, and more than one pedigree exists for the batch, you will be prompted with an ePedigree details panel where you must select what pedigree you are picking (i.e. enter the quantity you picked for each batch). You must then click the Update function key to assign the pedigree(s) to the batch. After the pick list is confirmed, you can change the pedigree quantity, if necessary, via Batch entry for the sales order line (i.e. click the ePedigrees function key on the Batch entry panel to access the Batch entry, ePedigree details panel). If you change the quantity, click the Update function key to assign the pedigree(s) to the batch.
Labels, holding the Pedigree ID, batch and item number, are automatically printed during the reception. A re-print of the label can be performed via the ePedigree label enquiry. Transaction logs are also automatically created during reception and picking. This information can be viewed via the Work with ePedigree transactions log menu item.
Sending data to the rfXcel interface
The information from the transaction log can be sent to the rfXcel interface files via the Start transfer of ePedigree files menu item, which will be used to generate a tracking ID for receptions and dispatches for transmission to the authorities via FTP. The DC1 Pedigree ID is recorded in the secondary ID field in the rfXcel interface files. Information about customers, suppliers and items can be sent to the rfXcel interface files via the Create ePedigree files for Customers, Vendors, Items menu item. (The rfXcel is a third party interface which handles ePedigree processing. It is not supplied with DC1.)
The information in the rfXcel interface files is validated and if erroneous data exists, the contact person that was set up for Receptions and Shipments for the warehouse, as well as for the supplier and customer (if that information was set up on those levels), is notified.
