Work flow for automatic allocation of stock (Firm Allocation) processing

With automatic allocation of stock, the item does not need to be flagged as an allocated item. Instead of manually creating the sales order proposal, a proposal is automatically created if the setup is done as described in Setting up the sales order allocation functionality.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. When entering sales order lines: If, for the selected customer and sales order type, the Firm allocation flag is set to YES then the Firm allocation field, on the Work with sales order, Order header panel will automatically get set to YES. Upon entering one sales order line, the allocation number is assigned to the item.
  2. On the Time axis enquiry, Inventory panel, you can see that for the selected item and warehouse, the entered quantity has been reserved. When you click Order lines, the A column is set to YES for the order under consideration, which means that the order is placed on allocation.
  3. Automatic confirmation of sales order allocation line: Once the order is placed on allocation, the item is automatically updated with the allocation number. Upon viewing the details of the sales order allocation, via the Work with sales order allocation routine, you can see that the allocation gets confirmed automatically (the Cnf flag gets set to YES).
