Work centre maintenance (BAS004B)

The purpose of this program is to maintain work centres.

Work centre
Description
Department section
The department section. This is, e.g., used in selecting and sorting.
Department
The department. This is, e.g., used for selecting and sorting.
Foreman
The code from the Signature file that indicates the name of the foreman.
Sub-contracting
Indicates if the work centre is external or internal (sub-contracted).
Calendar
The calendar that schedules the work centre’s available capacity during normal working hours for every day during a certain period. Different work centres may have different calendars, depending on, e.g., contracts or local working times. A calendar is used as a basis for capacity requirements planning.
Normal capacity
The amount of working hours/day. The normal capacity should be entered by shift and with number of persons. This information is used in the Production lead time calculation function in Basic data.
Man factor
The number of people that the capacity is to be multiplied by to make up the nominal total capacity/day. Mandatory entry if Workl planning type is set to 1 (Run and labour), and Work centre type is set to 1 (Work centre).
Number of shifts
The number of shifts that the capacity is to be multiplied by to make up the nominal total capacity/day. Note: This field is not displayed if the MPL-TIME (Plan operation by date/time) function is activated in the Function control file, since the total capacity for the day time is set-up in the day format.
Number of machines
The number of machines that the capacity is to be multiplied by to make up the nominal total capacity/day. Mandatory entry if Workl planning type is set to 2 (Machine), and Work centre type is set to 1 (Work centre).
Resources per job
The number of resources to be used for an operation. This information is used to calculate the time per day that a manufacturing order operation can be planned. If Workl planning type is set to 1 (Run/labour), the entered resource can be equal to the man factor but not higher. If Workl planning type is set to 2 (Machine), the entered resource can be equal to the number of machines but not higher. Note: The number of resources per job can be overridden from the item’s bill of routing. You can also change the resources per job in the manufacturing order operation.
Critical resource
This field is only displayed if Manufacturing Finite Planning (MFP) is activated. Indicates if the work centre should be capacity/workload controlled in the planning functions. Note: When using the function for automatic re-schedule of manufacturing orders with critical resources, the first critical resource for the order will be used as the work centre to control the re-scheduling.
Workload acceptance
This field is only displayed if Manufacturing Finite Planning (MFP) is activated. Mandatory entry if Critical resource is set to YES. The workload acceptance for this work centre defined in a percentage value. A value of 100 equals the work centre capacity. If you enter a percentage over 100 you accept a certain amount of overload for the work centre. This information is used to recalculate the net capacity in order to control the critical resource level. The new calculated capacity level is used to indicate overload for the MRP order proposals in Overload incl plw.
Scheme group
This field is only displayed if the MPL-TIME (Plan operation by date/time) function is activated in the Function control file. Enter the scheme group to be used for capacity creation and for the workload planning on date and time. Note: This field must be completed if the MPL-TIME function is activated and Workload planning is set to YES. On the other hand, if Workload planning is set to NO and the MPL-TIME function is active, then this field must be left blank.
Capacity created to
Indicates the horizon date for the capacity. This information is used for planning orders, that is, if an order has been scheduled outside the work centres horizon date, then the scheduling will stop and an error message gets displayed. Note: This date is updated when the capacity for the work centre is created.
Work centre type
The code indicates how the work centre is allowed to be used in the system.

Valid codes are:

Code Description
1 Work centre
2 Department section

The type Work centre type is allowed to be used in bill of routing and the type Department section type is allowed to be used in the Item file.

Efficiency factor
The efficiency factor indicates how the planning of one operation should be calculated. If the value is less than 100 the capacity will be reduced with the entered factor. This means that if the value is e.g., 75, the capacity is reduced with 25 %. This field is used to calculate the net capacity to be used for the planning of manufacturing order operations. Note: This field is not displayed if the MPL-TIME (Plan operation by date/time) function is activated in the Function control file, since the total capacity for the day time is set-up in the day format and is then handled as net capacity.
Workl planning type
The workload planning type defines what will be the base in the calculation of the workload for the work centre. Valid codes are: 1 (run and labour time and internal set-up) or 2 (machine time and internal set-up). The workload is actually calculated both for run and labour and machine time. You can enquire about both run and labour and machine time in the enquiry function for workload, but only one that is real calculation based.
Write down method
The write down method indicates how the write down of the workload should be performed on the manufacturing order. Valid codes are: 1 (reported quantity) or 2 (reported time).
Reporting calc
Mandatory entry if Work centre type is set to 1 (Work centre). This code is used to calculate run/labour, machine or approved quantity at manufacturing order operation reporting within manufacturing. The code indicates the type of calculation that should be used for this work centre. Note: This information can be overridden from the item’s bill of routing. You can also change the reporting calculation on the manufacturing order operation.

Valid codes are:

Code Description
1 No suggestion calculated
2 Time will be calculated
3 Approved quantity will be calculated
Workload planning
Indicates if the work centre is to be workload planned. If NO, no enquiry function for workload is used for this work centre.
Queue time
The queue time in hours. This is used for workload planning. This information can be overridden on operation level.
Transport time
The transport time in hours. This is used for workload planning. This information can be overridden on operation level.
No of op cards
The number of manufacturing operation cards to be printed. Note: If this field is left blank no operation cards will be printed.
Printer queue
The printer queue where the manufacturing order operation cards should be printed. Mandatory entry if the No of op card field has been completed.
Cost centre
The cost centre referring to Control account table in DC1 Financials.
Service object
This field is only displayed if DC1 Service is installed and activated. The item code and serial number of the service object that is connected to the work centre.
