Work with item classification profiles, Characteristics (DMR10601)

On this panel you attach the applicable characteristics to the profile 2 code. All characteristics from the Work with characteristics file are listed. You select the Attach/Detach option to attach or detach the characteristic to or from the profile 2 code. The Att column will be set to YES or NO. If you want to define a default value for a characteristic, select the Default value option.

Options

Attach/Detach Select this option to attach/detach characteristics to/from the Item classification profile 2. Note: If you attempt to attach or detach a characteristic for a profile that is being used by an item that has been generated via Item classification the Characteristic activation/deactivation panel will prompt after clicking ok. If you proceed with the activation or deactivation, the selected characteristic will be attached to or detached from the applicable profile and all connected items.
Default value Select this option to define default values for the characteristics.

Selection fields

Item classification profile 2
The name of this field depends on what has been set up in the DIS control keys file for the Item related key that was chosen to represent the Item classification profile 2 entity of the grouping structure (defined in the DIS control file). Displays the selected Item classification profile 2 code and description.
Characteristics
This column lists the characteristics from the Work with characteristics file. To attach/detach them to/from the selected profile 2, click the Attach/Detach option for those applicable. The Att column will be set to YES or NO.
Description
This column lists the description of the characteristic code.
Default value
This column lists any default values that have been defined for the characteristics. To enter a default value for a characteristic, click the Default value option.
Att
This column indicates if the characteristic has been attached to the selected profile 2.

On this panel you can enter/select a default value for the selected characteristic that is connected to the profile 2 code. Default values allow you to save time by assigning, in advance, some values for characteristics you know will always be the same for all items.

Default values will be loaded into the Values fields when you are in the process of applying the Item classification definition in the Item file to create the item.

When defining default values you have the following options:

  • Prompt the selection window to select from a list. The values displayed in the list are those that exist at detail level in the Work with characteristics file for the selected characteristic.
  • Enter one manually. The default value you enter does not necessarily have to already exist as a characteristic value at Characteristic detail level. If the characteristic is set up with the Validate flag set to NO, you can enter any default value. This new value will be back-updated in the Work with characteristics, Details file.
Item classification profile 2

Characteristic
Displays the selected characteristic and description.

Default value
Enter/select a default value. You have the following choices:

  • Enter one manually. The default value you enter does not necessarily have to already exist as a characteristic value at Characteristic detail level. If the characteristic is set up with the Validate flag set to NO, you can enter any default value. This new value will be back-updated in the Work with characteristics, Details file.
