This enquiry displays the languages and the common codes per language, that are to be used in the system. The table is preloaded at installation with the currently supported languages. If your system language is not any of these, you must add it to the equivalent table maintenance program.
This information is used in the following places in the system:
- In the Business partner file where each customer and supplier is given a language code, which controls the language in which the external documents shall be printed.
- In the Work with DC1 user profiles file, where the user defines:
- the language for the panels, menus and internal documents.
- the language in which the help text is retrieved, on system level or on user level (assuming the help text exists in that language)
- All language-dependent entry fields, where you enter the relevant system language code for YES, NO, OPTIONAL, etc. (You can view these codes on the Language table enquiry, Special panel value translations panel).

- CCSID
- This field controls the character format for the system language in which DC1 is run. When you select a company in DC1, the system looks at the language that is defined as the system language and then sets the values, outlined in this field and the Language identifier and Character ID control fields, on the job in DC1.
Displays the coded character set identifier used for this language.
- Language identifier
- This field controls the language identifier to be associated with the job. When you select a company in DC1, the system looks at the language that is defined as the system language and then sets the values, outlined in this field and the CCSID and Character ID control fields, on the job in DC1.
The language identifier is used when *LANGIDUNQ or *LANGIDSHR is specified on the Sort sequence prompt (SRTSEQ parameter). If the job CCSID is 65535, this parameter is also used to determine the value of the job default CCSID (DFTCCSID).
- Character ID control
- This field controls how characters are converted into your system language. When you select a company in DC1, the system looks at the language that is defined as the system language and then sets the values, outlined in this field and the CCSID and Language identifier fields, on the job in DC1.
Displays the character identifier control (CHRIDCTL) for the job. This attribute controls the type of CCSID conversion that occurs for display files, printer files and panels groups. The *CHRIDCTL special value must be specified on the CHRID command parameter on the create, change, or override commands for display files, printer files and panels groups before this attribute will be used.
Code Description *SYSVAL The value specified in the system value QCHRIDCTL is used. *DEVD The Device description special value performs the same function as on the CHRID command parameter for display files, printer files and panel groups. *JOBCCSID This value performs the same function as on the CHRID command parameter for display files, printer files and panels groups.
