This panel lists the field definitions available for the selected item attribute template. Each template can contain up to 10 field definitions. Each field definition consists of context headings, attributes and validation rules.

| Maintain/Display validation table | Access the Item attribute validation table where you can view/add field values that are valid. When you connect an Item attribute template to an item in the Item file, (and the end-user ultimately uses Attribute search mode to look up items), only the field values held in the assigned Validation table code will be valid for entry/selection. |
- Template
- Displays the unique code identifying the selected template.
- Seq
- This column lists the sequence number for the template field. This number dictates the order in which the template field will appear when using this Item attribute template in Attribute search mode to search for items.
- Left label
- This column lists the lead text for the template field. This heading will appear above the actual input field when using this Item attribute template in Attribute search mode to search for items.
- Column hdg
- This column lists the column heading that will appear when you assign a value for the item in the Item file and when the user accesses the More selections panel to perform an extended search.
- Type
- This column lists the type of data entry allowed for this template field (i.e. short alphanumeric, long alphanumeric, date or numeric).
- Dec pos
- Applicable for numeric fields only (i.e. the Type column displays the panel value for numeric). This column lists the number of digits to the right of the decimal to enter or display.
- Validation table
- This column lists the code from the Item attribute validation table that has been assigned to the template field. This code holds the field values that are valid for this Item attribute template. When you connect an Item attribute template to an item in the Item file, (and the end-user ultimately uses Attribute search mode to look up items), only the field values held in the assigned Validation table code will be valid for entry/selection.

If you accessed this panel via the Display option, then you will only be able to view the information. To define or update a record, return to the previous panel and select either the Add or Change option (if available).
On this panel you define/view the field attributes. Except for label and column heading information, field attributes cannot be changed once an Item attribute template has been linked to one or more items in the Item file.

- Attribute template
- Displays the selected Item attribute template and description.
- Sequence
- Displays the sequence number for the selected template field.
- Left label
- Enter the label for the template field. This is the lead text that will appear above the actual input field when using this Item attribute template in Attribute search mode to search for items.
- Column heading
- Enter the column heading that will appear when you assign a value for the item in the Item file and when the user accesses the More selections panel to perform an extended search.
- Data type
- Enter the panel value code denoting the type of data that is allowed to be entered in the field.
Type Description A Alphanumeric, short D Date L Alphanumeric, long N Numeric If alphanumeric (short or long), you can use/access the Item attribution validation table to register field values that are valid for this field and then connect the table code in the Validation table field on this panel. When you connect an Item attribute template to an item in the Item file, (and the end-user ultimately uses Attribute search mode look up items), only the field values held in the assigned Validation table code will be valid for entry/selection. If numeric or date, you can use the Value range fields on this panel to validate data entry.
- Decimal positions
- Only valid for numeric fields (i.e. Data type field is defined as numeric). Indicate the number of digits to the right of the decimal to enter or display.
- Value range
- Only valid for numeric and date fields (i.e. Data type field is defined as numeric or date). Indicate a starting and ending range for entry of the field.
- Validation table
- Enter the code from the Item attribute validation table that holds the field values that are valid for this Item attribute template. Click Maintain validation table to add values or change descriptions for existing. When you connect an Item attribute template to an item in the Item file, (and the end-user ultimately uses Attribute search mode to look up items), only the field values held in the assigned Validation table code will be valid for entry/selection.
