Selection fields
- Formula
- This column lists the formula code (or name).
- Type
- This column lists the formula type (i.e. Unit-related or Price-related).
- Description
- This column lists the formula description.
- System formula
- Only displayed if the CLA-COPR (Classification costing/pricing) function is activated in the Function control file. This column indicates if the formula has been preloaded. System formulas are predefined to aid with the standard calculation for specific pricing data (e.g. standard cost, purchase price, sales price). You can also manually define formulas for pricing if so desired.
Work with item classification formulas (DMR16604)
On this panel you enter the formula definition and controlling parameters.
Note: Changes to a price-related formula used in a definition of any active (and valid in current or future period) SPP group or SSP group is not allowed. If the price calculation algorithm needs to be changed, a new formula should be entered and used in new SSP group definitions.
Function keys
Formula elements | Not displayed for preloaded system formulas. When used it will display all numeric characteristics defined within the system. |
Input values | Only displayed if the CLA-COPR (Classification costing/pricing) function is activated in the Function control file. Used when defining a pricing-related formula. When used, it will display preloaded special values from the Panel value control file for Group FORMVAL. |
Translate | Only displayed if the CLA-COPR (Classification costing/pricing) function is activated in the Function control file. Used to translate Input value 1-3 descriptions when applicable. |
Simulation | Only displayed/available for Unit-related formulas. Test the formula in simulation mode and preview the end result. |
- Formula
- Enter the formula code.
- System formula
- Only displayed if the CLA-COPR (Classification costing/pricing) function is activated in the Function control file. Indicates if the formula is a system formula (pre-loaded).
- Formula type
- Indicate the type of formula (i.e. Unit related or Price related). This formula type will dictate the elements that can be used when defining the formula.
- Description
- Enter the description for the formula.
- Formula definition
- Using the lines at your disposal select/combine formula elements to construct your formula. Click the Formula elements function key to select from a list of applicable elements.
Type of formula Description Price formula The applicable elements include those contained within the {} brackets. You can use any mathematical operations in your formula as well as order of operations. See Pricing formula example for an example of how you can construct a price formula and how the system interprets each element, ultimately turning it into something readable. Note: You cannot make changes to a pricing-related formula that is used in a definition of any active SPP group or SSP group. Unit formula The applicable elements include all numeric characteristics defined in the Work with characteristics file. You can use any mathematical operations in your formula as well as order of operations. When your formula is complete you can test the formula in simulation mode (by clicking the Simulation function key) and view the end result after entering the actual values for the selected formula. See Unit formula example for an example of how you can construct a Unit formula and how the system interprets each element, ultimately turning it into something readable.
- Number of decimals
- Specify the number of decimals to be held by the resulting value of the formula. Note: This field can also be maintained for system pre-loaded formulas.
- Round result
- Indicate if the formula’s resulting values should be rounded to the specified number of decimals. If set to NO, the resulting value will be truncated to the specified number of decimals. If set to YES, the resulting value will be rounded to the specified number of decimals. Note: This field can also be maintained for system pre-loaded formulas.
- Input value 1 desc
- Only displayed if the CLA-COPR (Classification costing/pricing) function is activated in the Function control file. When defining a price-related formula, up to three user-defined input value descriptions can be defined (listed via function key Input value). This field allows the definition of the lead text for the first of the three possible user-defined input value descriptions and is a mandatory entry if the value code (VAL1) is used in the formula. This lead text will be displayed after entering the formula code in the Work with item classification, Standard sales price panel and/or when entering the formula code in a characteristic exception (Work with Item classification definition, SSP, Characteristics exceptions, Details panel). At that point an input value for this description can be entered.
- Input value 2 desc.
- Only displayed if the CLA-COPR (Classification costing/pricing) function is activated in the Function control file. When defining a price-related formula, up to three user-defined input value descriptions can be defined (listed via function key Input value). This field allows the definition of the lead text for the second of the three possible user-defined input value descriptions and is a mandatory entry if the value code (VAL2) is used in the formula. This lead text will be displayed after entering the formula code in the Work with item classification, Standard sales price panel and/or when entering the formula code in a characteristic exception (Work with Item classification definition, SSP, Characteristics exceptions, Details panel). At that point an input value for this description can be entered.
- Input value 3 desc.
- Only displayed if the CLA-COPR (Classification costing/pricing) function is activated in the Function control file. When defining a price-related formula, up to three user-defined input value descriptions can be defined (listed via function key Input value). This field allows the definition of the lead text for the third of the three possible user-defined input value descriptions and is a mandatory entry if the value code (VAL3) is used in the formula. This lead text will be displayed after entering the formula code in the Work with item classification, Standard sales price panel and/or when entering the formula code in a characteristic exception (Work with Item classification definition, SSP, Characteristics exceptions, Details panel). At that point an input value for this description can be entered.

Work with item classification formulas, Deletion (DMR16608)
Note: The deletion of a price-related formula used in a definition of any active (and valid in current or future period) SPP group or SSP group is not allowed.
Work with item classification formulas, Simulation (DMR16611)
This panel is only valid for Unit-related formulas. On this panel you can test the formula in simulation mode to check what the end result would be when the formula is applied during item creation. Note: Only those characteristics used by the formula are displayed in this panel. However, when you create your item (i.e. when you apply the Item classification definition) all characteristics attached to your grouping structure will be listed along with the ones used by the formula.
Formula definition at this stage does not belong to any grouping structure. When you try to connect a formula to a unit, a check will be performed to ensure that all the characteristics used by the formula are attached to the grouping structure of the unit in the Item classification definition. It will also check that it is not a pricing formula. Formulas will be applied on the corresponding units for every new item created for the grouping structure.
