Work with sales pricing methods, Details (DMR06304)
Note: If you accessed this panel from the Work with sales promotions routine, the panel sub-heading is Details – Sales promotions default values.
On this panel information on the prices and discounts are defined.
Pricing keys
The values for the pricing keys that were defined for this Sales pricing method are displayed at the top of the panel.
Note: If you accessed this panel from the Work with sales promotions routine, the pricing keys will not be displayed.
Defining special prices and discounts
There are four methods of calculating the special prices or discounts. Only one of the following can be applied to the pricing keys:
- Fixed price
- Variable sales prices based on cost value
- Limit dependent prices based on an amount, quantity or matrix quantity. Also includes FOC discounting for specific items based on an amount, quantity or matrix quantity. See About setting up limit dependent pricing for more information.
- FOC (Free-of-charge)
Sales pricing methods can be defined according to:
- Price. A fixed price can be defined.
- Cost. The sales price will be based on the cost price of the item.
Variable sales prices based on cost value
There are many ways of defining what the cost price of the item is. By selecting a value from the Cost bases table you can determine how the cost of the item is to be derived (i.e. according to the Standard Cost per Item / Standard Cost per Warehouse / Last Purchase Cost, etc).
For example:
If the Basis parameter specifies that the cost of the item is the Average Cost per Item, the system will calculate a sales price based on that criteria. Furthermore, once the cost base has been established, you can specify whether the method of calculating the sales price is subject to a margin or mark-up factor (the Marg/Mark field).

Margin
Base Price / ((100 – %) / 100) = Sales Price
Base Price / (1 – Factor) = Sales PriceMark-up
Base Price x ((100 + %) / 100) = Sales Price
Base Price x (1 + Factor) = Sales PriceFor example:
- If the Cost Basis selected on this panel is ACI Average Cost/Item
- If the average cost of the item value = 10 GBP (defined on the Item file maintenance, Inventory information (DMR00302) panel
- If the Method selected for calculating the sales price is Mark-up
- If the type of mark-up used in the calculation is a factor and not a percentage (defined in the Fact/Per field)
