- Old item
- This field is only displayed if the item you are creating is to be copied from an existing record. The original item code is displayed in this field.
- Item
- This field indicates the new item code that is being built from the delimiters below.
- Segmentation type
- In this field, enter a valid segmentation type, from the Segmentation table. A description of this segmentation type is also displayed alongside the item code.
- Segment
- Up to 6 segments can now be entered for the item, based on the segmentation type that was entered in the field above. These segments are selected from the Item segment value table.
- Delimiter
- If segmentation by delimiters is used, a valid delimiter is entered, for each segment, in this field. Note: If the delimiter for all the segments is the same, then this may be entered in the Common delimiter field below.
- Overflow
- In this field, an extra (non-segmented) value may be entered, to be added to the new item code.
- Primary segment
- This field displays the number of the segment that is to be used in the Select item routine – should no search delimiters have been defined. This value is predetermined in the segmentation type.
- Common delimiter
- When setting up the item segments in the Segment field, each of these segments may be awarded a unique delimiter. However, should there be a delimiter that is common to each segment, then it is entered in this field. Note: The value entered here will over-ride the individual values entered in the Delimiter fields for each segment.
