The following describes how to process a pick instruction. For a description of the put away instruction, see Process put away, pallet by pallet.
Note: These instructions exemplify the processing of an R/F batch that includes one shipment instruction line. If your batch includes several lines you will have to perform pick and put for all lines in the batch. The order in which you are asked to pick and put stock, or move from one location to another, depends on the pick/put type that is defined for the batch. See Instruction sequence for information about the available pick/put types.
Note: R/F shipments must be confirmed from the warehouse via pick list confirmation. All data is entered via the R/F terminal and defaulted for the pick confirmation.
Note: For more information about the selection, see Selecting activities and Selecting batches.
- Select the Select R/F activity menu item.
- You access the main panel. An * indicates that open tasks exist for the activity. On this panel you can:
- Click Allocate resource to allocate the resource that the handler should use during processing, if not defined.
- Click Release resource to make an allocated resource available for all R/F operators to select.
- You access Select R/F batch – picking which displays the batches that are available for picking. R/F batches are displayed in the R/F priority sequence, e.g., for replenishment batches the high priority can be the automatic replenishment created when location hit the replenishment level and the lower priority batches can be manually created batches.
- You access Process RF instruction showing the R/F instruction to be processed for the selected activity. On the panel you can:
- Click Line notes to view any text associated with the instruction line.
- Click Open/All to toggle between viewing only open instructions or open and closed instructions.
- Click Display pallet item to view the input fields for item, quantity and batch during PALLET PICK, or view the input field for pallet number during STOCK UNIT PICK. (Not allowed for empty pallet pick.)
- Click Update, leave open if you want to accept the current input to the R/F terminal, but leave the instruction line open. This is useful when you have only partially executed the instruction and intend to complete the task at a later time.
Note: For PICK instructions, this function prevents the corresponding PUT instruction from being generated.
Note: For shipment instructions, this function places the new instruction last in the R/F batch if there is stock out in the location. For pick/put types 1 through 4 the new instruction is the last instruction in the R/F batch and for pick/put types 5 and 6 the new instruction is the last pick instruction in the R/F batch. (Not allowed for empty pallet pick.)
- Click Update to accept the current input to the R/F terminal and close the instruction line. For a shipment PICK instruction, this will cause the PUT instruction to be generated. This function is useful when the instruction, such as a partial pick, is not fully executed, but you do not intend to complete the rest of the task. This is the only way to close a stock take COUNT instruction. (Not allowed for empty pallet pick.)
- Click Cancel actual line to open a closed transaction and remove the execution details of the instruction. Once you have opened the transaction, you can execute the instruction again. This function key is only applicable when viewing an instruction that has been fully executed. (Not allowed for empty pallet pick.)
- Zn/Location or Location alias
- Scan/Enter the zone and location or the location alias for which the instruction is actually executed. Note: You can only scan/enter a location alias if Use location alias is YES on the Radio Frequency information panel in Work with warehouses.
- Pallet number
- If Scan/Enter pallet number on the Radio Frequency information panel is NO, then the suggested pallet number is defaulted from the instruction. If YES, then the pallet number must be entered/scanned.
- Item/EAN code
- If Scan/Enter item on the Radio Frequency information panel is NO for Movement, then the item code is defaulted from the instruction. If YES, then the item code must be entered/scanned.
- If you scan the item, then the EAN code for the item will be displayed in this field.
- The Activate R/F and Scan EAN code fields in the R/F panel section on the Radio Frequency information panel must be set to YES to use the EAN number; if they are set to NO, then the item code must be used.
- Quantity
- If Scan/Enter quantity/unit on the Radio Frequency information panel is NO for Movement, then the suggested/picked quantity or unit is defaulted from the instruction. If YES, then the quantity must be entered/scanned.
- Enter the quantity for the instruction being executed. If no quantity is entered, then a value of 1 is assumed.
Here, select the Picking activity.
Batches marked with an * have been allocated to your handler or resource group. R/F batches without an * have not been assigned to any handler and can be selected by anyone.
Select the applicable batch.
As you execute instructions on the R/F terminal, the changes can be viewed using Work with R/F instructions on the iSeries. The status of the R/F batch header and lines change as you view, update, and complete the instructions.
Instruction status codes are system-defined codes used during R/F processing. The status code indicates the current step in the process for the instruction. See About working with R/F instructions for status code details.
