The related topics describes how you activate DBAM and read the Database audit log file. The journalling routine is outlined in the flowchart with the description of the steps underneath.
In release 5.50 an alternative method to journalling was added to log changes. Instead of journalling you can use triggers. This method is useful if you already have activated journalling to the database, for example if you have a “High Availability” solution setup against the system. To use triggers, select method 3 in the DBAM control file. The setup is otherwise the same as for journalling except that you do not need to activate any journals.
Flowchart
- One or more physical files are activated for journalling
- A change in a file occurs
- The change is registered in one of the journal receivers
- The journal is passed on to the journal read program (JRNR030)
- A DC1 log file is created
- The log file can be read on-line and/or printed
