Mass-update an item structure

Related topics

You can mass-exchange or mass-delete items, work centres or tools in the item structure. You can also update component quantities in bill of materials or operations times in work centres.

  1. Select the Work with structures menu item.
  2. On the initial panel, click Mass-update BOM/BOR.
  3. You access Work with structures, Mass-update BOM/BOR where you select the type of update that should be made. Complete the following fields:
    4. Selection
    Indicate which value should be updated: Component, Work centre and Tool.
    Type of update
    Indicate what type of mass-update should be performed. Permitted values are:
    Value
    Exchange (component, work centre or tool)
    Delete (component, work centre or tool)
    Update component quantity (for a single component in the BOM)
    Update operation times (for a single work centre in the BOR)

    Click OK.

  4. On the second Work with structures, Mass-update BOM/BOR panel you define the component, component quantities, work centre, operation times or tool that should be updated, exchanged or deleted in the item structures. Using the available selection fields, you can also limit the number of item structures to be processed.

    5. Depending on the type of mass-update you have selected, different fields are available on this panel:

    Exchange components
    The following fields must be completed when you have selected to exchange components:

    Component
    Enter the component that should be exchanged in the selected item structures.
    New component
    Enter the component that should replace the selected item in the selected item structures.

    Delete components
    The following field must be completed when you have selected to delete components:

    Component
    Enter the component that should be deleted from the selected item structures.

    Update component quantities
    The following fields must be completed when you have selected to update component quantities:

    Component
    Enter the component that should be updated with a new quantity in the selected item structures.
    New quantity
    Enter the new quantity for the selected component.

    Exchange work centres
    The following fields must be completed when you have selected to exchange work centres:

    Work centre
    Enter the work centre that should be exchanged in the selected item structures.
    New work centre
    Enter the new work centre that should replace the work centre in the selected item structures.

    Delete work centres
    The following field must be completed when you have selected to delete work centres:

    Work centre
    Enter the work centre that should be deleted from the selected item structures.

    Update operation times
    The following fields can be completed when you have selected to update operation times (not all operation times must be changed at the same time):

    Work centre
    Enter the work centre that should be updated with new operation times in the selected item structures.
    New run/labour time
    Enter the new value that will replace the run/labour time for the selected work centre in the bill of routing. Note: Enter 0 if the new time should be zero. If this field is left blank, no update will be performed.
    New machine time
    Enter the new value that will replace the machine time for the selected work centre in the bill of routing. Note: Enter 0 if the new time should be zero. If this field is left blank, no update will be performed.
    New set-up time int
    Enter the new value that will replace the internal set-up time for the selected work centre in the bill of routing. Note: Enter 0 if the new time should be zero. If this field is left blank, no update will be performed.
    New set-up time ext
    Enter the new value that will replace the external set-up time for the selected work centre in the bill of routing. Note: Enter 0 if the new time should be zero. If this field is left blank, no update will be performed.

    Exchange tools
    The following fields must be completed when you have selected to exchange tools:

    Tool
    Enter the tool that should be exchanged in the selected item structures.
    New tool
    Enter the new tool that should replace the tool in the selected item structures.

    Delete tools
    The following field must be completed when you have selected to delete tools:

    Tool
    Enter the tool that should be deleted from selected item structures.

    Click OK when you have completed all relevant fields.

  5. You access Confirm Mass-update BOM/BOR listing the parent items that are included in the selection for mass-update of item structures. Click Accept update to confirm the mass-update of these items. The update will run interactively. Exit the routine.
