On this panel you can maintain constraints for a configured item. Constraints are one or more sets of attributes and values that can be used either for validation or selection.
Two names are valid for this panel:
- Configurator item maintenance, Validation:
On this panel you enter constraints defining what combination of values are valid or invalid at product configuration. The constraints are made up of one or more sets of attributes and values that are used to validate the configuration. - Configurator item maintenance, Alternative selections:
On this panel you enter constraints defining the conditions that allow a component to be added to the generated bill of material. The constraints are made up of one or more sets of attributes and values and can be used in combination with the value(s) entered on the Configurator item maintenance panel. The component will only be added to the bill of material if the values that are selected at product configuration meet the defined conditions.

- Parameter
- Type of constraints
- This field is only displayed on the Configurator item maintenance, Validation panel. The code indicates if the combination of attributes and values displayed on this panel is invalid or valid.
Code Description 1 Invalid combination 2 Valid combination
- Constraint seq no
- The sequence number that is used to identify a set of attributes and values.
- Description
- The description of the constraint.
- Attr
- The alphanumeric code that identifies the attribute.
- Text
- The description of the attribute.
- Test
- The code indicates what test operand to be used when comparing the attribute values selected at product configuration with those defined in Value from-to on this panel. Depending on if this is the Configurator item maintenance, Validation or Configurator item maintenance, Alternative selections panel, this field has the following functions:
- Validation: This field, in combination with Value from-to, is used to define what combination of values are valid or invalid at product configuration.
- Alternative selections: This field, in combination with Value from-to, is used to define additional conditions that allow a component to be added to the generated bill of material. Selection conditions can also be defined on the Configurator item maintenance panel in combination with the Configurator BOM maintenance panel.
Code Description EQ Equal GE Greater or equal GT Greater than LE Less or equal LT Less than RA Within range of values Note: If this field is left blank the attribute will not be included in the comparison with the values selected at product configuration.
- Value from-to
- The values that belong to the attribute, either a single value (from) or a range of values (from-to). If Test is set to RA (Within range of values), a range of values must be entered. Depending on if this is the Configurator item maintenance, Validation or Configurator item maintenance, Alternative selections panel, this field has the following functions:
- Validation: This field, in combination with Test, is used to define what combination of values are valid or invalid at product configuration.
- Alternative selections: This field, in combination with Test, is used to define additional conditions that allow a component to be added to the generated bill of material. Selection conditions can also be defined on the Configurator item maintenance panel in combination with the Configurator BOM maintenance panel.
