Create an update proposal

The following describes how to create an update proposal which is a depreciation proposal that has to be run when you are ready to update the depreciation. You generate a depreciation proposal containing all the assets that need to be depreciated for a given time period.

The update proposal has the following characteristics:

  • You must run the update proposal for all assets; you cannot select certain assets as you can do for the work proposal, see Create a work proposal.
  • Note: However, there is always a possibility to do a selection on which depreciation types to include in the proposal. This can be done in the Run depreciation field.

  • All assets on an update proposal are frozen for the selected depreciation types. You cannot work with these assets until you update depreciation (or delete the proposal).
  • You are not permitted to update the depreciation if any entries on the proposal contain accounting rule errors or accounting errors.
  • An update proposal containing errors must either be deleted and created or rebuilt (see Rebuild G/L accounts). Once there are no errors, you can update the depreciation.
  1. Select the Work with depreciations menu item.
  2. On the Depreciation – proposal overview panel, click Add.
  3. You access Depreciation – proposal creation. Follow the instructions for completing the fields in step 3 in Create a work proposal with the following exceptions:
