This program will reorganise the Inventory transaction file and summarise the transactions that are stored with the same accounting period, inventory event code, transaction type, item code and warehouse, within the time period selected and add them together.
This reorganisation should be done from time to time to ensure that the Inventory transaction file does not become too large, as all the inventory transactions that are created within the system are stored in this file.
The user may choose to summarise the transactions that had not previously been summarised and/or for those that have previously been summarised. A deletion of summarised transactions with an accounting period equal to or less than the period entered may also be performed.
Summarised records can be viewed on the Inventory transaction enquiry panel for those records with the Sum column set to YES.
Important:
For those items for which you want to obtain an ABC analysis, it is important that a deletion of the summarised records containing the total quantity for those transaction types is never performed. This is because the ABC analysis, (i.e. item valuation list), depends on these totals to find the stock balance at the specified accounting period.
- Summarise transactions between periods
- Enter the starting and ending accounting period that the stock transactions should be summarised for.
- Delete summary trans with period <
- Summary transactions will be deleted if their accounting period is less than or equal to this accounting period.
- Save transactions
- Mandatory entry. Indicate if the transactions that are deleted after summarisation are to be copied to off line storage.
- Diskette/tape unit
- Mandatory entry if the Save transactions field is set to YES, in which case a valid tape or diskette unit name must be entered.
