In this program you define the unique quantity dependent prices per item/price list. The validity period corresponds to the from-to validity dates for the price list.
This program is also accessed from the Standard sales price (ssp) set-up in the Item classification definition to create, update or display quantity dependent prices that are assigned to the SSP header, characteristic exceptions or item exceptions. It is also accessed from Item sales price simulation program to display quantity dependent prices that will be downloaded from the SSP set-up into item sales price list.
Prices can be entered in two ways:
- Enter the limit and the sales price. The system will then automatically calculate the discount.
- Enter the limit and the markdown %. The system will then automatically calculate the price.
Decimal numbers
A rounding factor must be correctly set up (in the Adjust to field in the Currency table). If not, then an error message may be displayed indicating that the relationship between the price, markdown % and limit is not valid.
For example:
Currency definition with 2 decimals, no rounding
- Sales price = 2200
- Quantity dependent
- Sales price = 2110
The difference between 2110 and 2200 is 4.0909%: as only 2 decimals are used for calculating discounts, the difference should be rounded off to 4.09%. When 4.09% is subtracted from 2200, the difference is 2110.02. The system then compares the entered price (2110) with the difference that was calculated (2110.02) and a discrepancy is found. To correct the error, rounding 1 (i.e. whole US dollars) should be defined in the Currency table, the price will then be accurately calculated as 2110.

The quantity dependent discounts that are entered on this panel are used only for price calculations and are not printed on invoices as discounts.
