Run a calculation and analyse the data in Business Performance Director

If you have not already done so, complete the following fields in the input area of the BPD workspace:

    Base year
    Select the base year (i.e. year before investment) from the drop down list,
    Actual year
    Select the Actual year for the calculations.
    From/To
    Enter the period interval from which the data should be retrieved.
    Total investment
    Enter the total investment on which you are calculating your ROI.
    Net margin base %
    Enter the net margin base percentage. This is used in the ROI formula.
    Cost of funds %
    Enter the costs of funds percentage. This is used in the ROI formula.

Click Calculate.

Analysing the result:

The table below provides a description of what each column holds.

Column Contents
Unit Retrieved from the Unit text defined on the component. Could be currency, percentage, days, etc.
Industry standard Manually entered values for each component
Company target Manually entered values for each component
Actual Typically calculated values based on the formula defined for the component.
Base Typically calculated values based on the formula defined for the component.
Change Typically calculated value – Represents the change between the Actual and Base values.
ROI Accumulated Accumulated total summed from the ROI Calculated xxxx columns.
ROI Calculated “xxxx” (where xxxx represents the year) Calculated values. The number of columns displayed depends on the time difference between the Base year and Actual year. For example, if the Base year is 1998 and your Actual year is 2002, you will receive columns for four years (1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002). Data will be retrieved for the From/To period interval and the year that applies to the column.
