A data set is a template used to determine how the system displays information in the Customer Management Console (CMC). Data sets are linked to a CMC role via the Work with roles routine. The CMC role is assigned to the user in the Work with DC1 user profiles file. If no CMC role is assigned to the user profile, it is retrieved from the group profile. A data set consists of fields and layout instructions specified in the CMC field definition file.
The system provides a simulation function where you can test the layout of the CMC while creating the data set. You are recommended to consider who the data set is created for and in what CMC view the data set will appear. You can enter a different data set for each view. Once the panel design is created, you should save the data set under an identity that resembles the role function.

- Number of columns
- Enter 1, 2 or 3 to determine how many columns the system should use when displaying the fields of information. Note: If you are working in the XTUI Client environment, then only one column will be displayed independent of how many columns you specify here.
