This panel displays all EAN numbers that exist for the item/unit combination you are working with. Note: If the EANCRT (Automatic create of EAN number) function is activated in the Function control file and the system is set up for automatic numbering of EAN-13 numbers, the EAN number could have been automatically created.
An item can be purchased from different suppliers, which means that different EAN numbers exist for the same item. EAN numbers are used to identify the items when sending and receiving documents through Data Interchange, e.g., EDI.
The DC1 system allows multiple EAN number handling for inbound activities. Only one of the entered EAN numbers can be defined for outbound activities. When the outbound EAN number is identified, the system keeps track of it and displays it on item/unit level.

Set as Outbound | Select this option to define which EAN number should be used for information or documents that are to be sent. Note: Only one record can be set as outbound. |
Selection fields
- EAN number
- Under this column heading is a list of all EAN numbers that exist for this item/unit combination.
- Outbound
- The EAN number marked with YES under this column heading is the code defined for outbound activities. To change the outbound code, mark the new record and select the Set as Outbound option.
Work with inbound EAN numbers (DIR00804)
On this panel you can add new or maintain the EAN numbers that exist for the item/unit combination you are working with. You may enter as many inbound EAN numbers as you need, but only one can be used for outbound activities. The system keeps track of which EAN number is set as outbound and displays it on item/unit level.

Note: If the EANCHECK (Check Digit Calculation Handling) function is activated in the DIS control file, the new code is validated according to the EAN.UCC identification rules (refer to WWW.EAN-INT.ORG).
- Set as Outbound
- This field is set to YES by default, if the EAN number you are entering is the first one for this item/unit combination. Any subsequently entered EAN numbers will be set to NO, since only one code can be used for outbound activities.
The value in this field can only be changed if you mark the applicable record and select the Set as Outbound option on the header panel.

Work with inbound EAN numbers, Deletion (DIR00808)
Note: When deleting one or several EAN numbers, the system checks if an outbound EAN number is affected. In that case, you will be prompted and another EAN number (if it exists) will be set as outbound automatically. To alter this, mark the record of your choice on the Work with inbound EAN numbers header panel and select the Set as Outbound option.
