On this panel you add/change the fields for the object.
Options
FRF text | Select this option to view the field’s free text from the FRF. |
Conversion text | Select this option to access the Conversion text, where you can write conversion instructions (used only in the DCP process) to be used during the actual Data Conversion process. Such instructions could include how the fields should be initialised, calculated, etc. |
Field text | This option is normally only used for Display and Printer files. Select this option to view the lead text and any column text for the field which has been retrieved from the FRF. |

Work with database definitions, Fields in file (ASTD19604)
This panel is accessed in two modes, New and Change.
Function keys
Work with FRF fields | Maintain the field information for the object. This is useful if you want to add a new Reference field which does not exist in the FRF. You can access the FRF via this function key, add the field and then continue with your work here. |
- Object
- Displays the name of the object you are working with.
- Record format
- Enter/displays the record format for the field.
- Field sequence
- Enter/displays the field sequence on the field. When adding a new field, the sequence is proposed by the system.
- Field name
- Enter/displays the field name.
- Status
- Enter the valid code for New, Update or Deleted, identifying the status of the field.
- Long field name
- The value is retrieved from Alias field in the Work with field reference fields panel if the field exists. This field is only allowed to be edited when it is blank. Enter/displays an appropriate, descriptive attribute name. The entry must be concatenated. For example, the long field name commodityCode could be written to describe the field name PGCSNO. This mandatory entry, for Physical files only, must be unique within the file.
- Description
- Enter the description of the field.
- I/O attribute
- Enter/displays the valid code for I (= Input), O (= Output) or B (= Both) indicating how the field in the database file, (Physical file or Display file), is used. Note: Some fields in Physical files are also used within DC1 Corporate Data Maintenance (i.e. data in the fields can be sent/received to another company). All fields, delivered with Standard DC1, that are not relevant in the receive side of DC1 CDM are preloaded with O. This means that the data for the field will never be overridden with data received from a sender.
If adding a new field and the following is true:
- DC1 Corporate Data Maintenance is activated for the company
- The Physical file is supported in DC1 CDM (i.e. External Interface field is set to YES)
you should set this field to O to prohibit the fields from being updated when receiving data from a sender.
- Logical key
- This field is only valid for Physical files and is optional. Enter/displays the sequence of the keys in the base logical file.
- Public field
- This field is only valid for Physical files used within the Data Interchange environment. This field is used to implement security on the fields that will be published via the XML datastream. By entering NO the field will not be published.
- Reference field
- For existing records, displays the reference field from the Field Reference File. For new records, enter the reference field.
- Field class
- This field is currently not used in the system.
- Field length
- Displays the field length, retrieved from the Field Reference File.
- Field type
- Displays the field type, retrieved from the Field Reference File.
- Number of digits
- Displays the number of digits, retrieved from the Field Reference File.
- Number of decimals
- Displays the number of decimals, retrieved from the Field Reference File.
- Edit code
- Displays the edit code, retrieved from the Field Reference File.
- Keyboard shift
- Displays the keyboard shift, retrieved from the Field Reference File.
- Edit word
- Displays the edit word, retrieved from the Field Reference File.
- Subset
- Enter/displays the subset to which the field belongs.
- Identity
- If the identity is defined as a mandatory entry for the subset in the Subset table, you must complete this field. The validation rules, if any, are also defined in the Subset table.
- Change date
- Displays the date this field was last changed.
- PTF/Mod number
- If the PTF and modification number are defined as mandatory entries for the subset in the Subset table you must complete these fields. The validation rules, if any, are also defined in the Subset table.
- Changed by user
- Displays the user profile id of the last person who changed this field.
- Initialise field
- The entry in this field is used in the DCP process to indicate, for a new or updated field in the database file, how this field should be handled in the conversion. Set this field to YES if the field is to be initialised with blank/zero. Set this field to NO if conversion instructions exist, thereby describing the logic to initialise the field.
