Client parameters (GDMD05001)

Related topics

This panel displays the parameter(s) required for the selected client type assigned to the current user/contact. In order for the client type to be valid for the user/contact, a value must be defined per each applicable client parameter.

For example, if the client type is cell phone or e-mail, then the value entered would be either the GSM telephone number, or an e-mail address of the user/contact in question. This informs the system where to send the message and how. Click Change to enter a new or modify a parameter value.

Alert Management events

Every time an event is triggered that is to be received by this user or contact, you have the option to let the system send the message to a specific message queue. The advantage of this is being able to separate and direct messages to different queues depending on the client type.

For example: You can direct a message to your default message queue every time an event occurs. An example could be defining Message queue 1 with the following value: *MSGQ=MyQueue (where MyQueue is replaced with a message queue object accessible by the DC1 system). For an Analyser user, you can create a separate message queue, used only by the DC1 Analyser Alert Management client.

User/contact

Client type
Displays the name and description of the client type for which you are currently entering or modifying parameter values.

Enter, in the space below this field, the value that represents the communication details of this client parameter. Communication details are required by the system in order to deliver a message or information, based on the selected client type. For example, in the case of e-mail having been selected as the client type, you would enter a proper e-mail address. This is mandatory information and may be changed for existing records.

Alert Management client types

Alert Management client types require scan values. These are pre-defined and automatically retrieved to this field. For example, if the AMT client type is MAIL, then you would enter the value (e-mail address) as follows: *[email protected]

Valid values are:

Note: For messages to be sent by Alert Management, if no extra value is entered here for *USER and *ADDR, then the system will default to ASW700 and SEDC1A00, respectively. You may also enter different values for User Id and Address for SMS in the AMT control file.

Program differences

The information entered here is also used as follows depending on how you accessed the panel:

From DC1 user profile table maintenance:
  • If the Print control functionality is used, then the parameter value is retrieved as contact information for the order handler into the header of the Sales order confirmation and Invoice documents. See Standardize the layout/information on the printout for more information.
From Work with contacts:
  • The parameter value is automatically retrieved as contact information for a business partner contact (in the Business partner file maintenance, Phone numbers panel). If Update phone file is set to YES for the client type, then the phone file will be updated when communication details are changed for a contact’s client type on this panel.
  • If the client type is ACCEMAIL, then the parameter value is accessible as contact information when selecting a contact’s e-mail address in the Work with sales/purchase order routines. See Assign a client type to an external contact and Attach an external contact to a business partner role for more information.
