Define the report settings to be valid for all Profitability Analysis reports

Related topics

Note: You can edit the settings both before creating the report(s) and after reports have been created (see Define the report settings to be valid for a specific Profitability Analysis report for the latter).

These settings determine how the system behaves when you perform certain functions during the viewing of reports. You can choose, for example, to:

  • Open separate windows when drilling down to subordinate information in the report.
  • Have the information displayed in the same window as you drill down to subordinate information. With this option, the Go back icon is available.
  • Apply data buffering, which allows you to improve performance but requires more memory on your PC. When you enable data buffering, the data retrieved from the server is kept meaning it does not have to be retrieved again the next time it is requested.

Note: You can also edit the PA report settings while viewing a specific PA report. The settings on the This PA report page only affect the report you are currently viewing. See Define the report settings to be valid for a specific Profitability Analysis report for instructions.

To define the report settings to be valid for all reports, do as follows:

  1. Select Edit PA report settings menu item.
  2. You access the Edit PA report settings window:
  3. On the Actions page define the following information:

    Double clicking an item

Mark the applicable selection from the choices below:

    Displays details
Mark this selection if you want to display the details for an item when you double click an item.
    Drills down to next level
Mark this selection if you want to drill down to the next level when you double click an item. A new window is opened if an open detailed window is not already opened for the selected row.
    Drills down periods
Mark this selection if you want to drill down to the different periods when you double click an item.

    Displaying details
When displaying details you can choose from the following:

    Reuses the same window
Mark this selection if you want the system to reuse the same window when displaying details.
    Opens new window per item
Mark this selection if you want the system to open a new window when displaying details.
    Always opens new window
Mark this selection if you want the system to always open a new window when displaying details.
    Show component percentages by default
Mark this selection if you want the system to display the component percentages when displaying details. This can be changed on the details window.

    Drill down to next level
When drilling down to subordinate information, you can choose from the following:

Drill down to next level opens new window
The default is a checkmark beside this option, meaning the system will open a new window when you drill down to view subordinate information. If you want to display the information in the same window, untick this box. Note: If you choose not to open a new window, the Go back icon will be available.

    Drill down periods
If you have or plan to include several periods in your report, you can choose from the following when viewing the information:

Drill down periods opens new window
Mark this selection if you want the system to open a new window when drilling down to view the subordinate information for periods. Note: If you choose not to open a new window, the Go back icon will be available.
Use current sequence when drilling down periods
When drilling down to period values, the period values are sorted on the currently selected sorting column instead of being sorted on year/period.

    Toggle to the Performance page.

When creating the report you can improve performance on your PC by first enabling Data buffering. This means that the data retrieved from the server is kept and does not have to be retrieved again the next time it is requested.

Note: Although performance is improved with Data buffering enabled, it does require more memory on your PC.

The default is data buffering is disabled. Checkmark Enable data buffering if you want to improve performance.

Click Save to save the settings and return to the sub-menu.
