Using this routine you can perform:
- a backup of the DC1 database,
- a reorganisation of all files.
If you select to run any of the jobs, you can define a date and time when you want the job(s) to be executed. When you have selected the job(s) to run, you will be prompted to select company.
Backup
A backup should be made each day after finishing work. If you select to run this job, enter the information about the backup in the fields below.
- Execute
- Indicate if you want to run a backup.
- Device
- Enter the system name of the unit where your backup diskette or tape is loaded. This could be, e.g., TAP01.
- Tape density
- Enter the tape density to use when initialising the tape. The default is *DEVTYPE.

- Save file
- Indicate if you want the backup to be made on a save file first.
- Initialise tape
- Indicate if the tape should be initialized before backup.
Reorganise
The reorganisation will compress all files to eliminate the space occupied by entries that have already been deleted. In the field below you define whether to run the reorganisation or not.
- Execute
- Indicate if you want to run a reorganisation.
Execute backup/reorganisation, Select company (ASGD0312)
This panel displays the companies and corresponding codes that have been set up in your system.
Note: If a company system job is currently running in a company, you will not see the company on this panel. However, when the company system job is completed the company will reappear on this panel. Company system jobs are, for example, backup/reorganisation, period roll-over, creating company database, etc.
Options
Select | Use this option to select the company(ies) for which you want to run the job(s). |
Deselect | Use this option to deselect a company. |
Backup information | Only displayed and valid if you chose to run a backup on the previous panel. Select this option to view information about the libraries that will be included in the backup. |
- Company code
- This column lists the companies and corresponding codes.
- Company name
- This column lists the company names.
- Selected
- Indicates if the company is selected for a job.
Execute backup/reorganisation, Backup information (ASGD0315)
This panels displays information about the libraries that will be included in the backup, if you selected to run the backup for one, or several companies.
Note: If you have not selected any company yet, no information is displayed.
- Company code
- This column lists the selected company code(s).
- Application
- This column lists the application(s) for the selected company(ies).
- File library
- This column lists the name(s) of the library(ies) that will be included in the backup.
- Common file library
- If a common file library is defined for the company, for the DBF application, then the file name is displayed here.
Execute backup/reorganisation, Job confirmation (ASGD0318)
This panel displays the selected company(ies). Specify a start time and date, if applicable, and click OK to submit the job(s).
- Company code
- This column lists the selected company code(s).
- Company name
- This column lists the name(s) of the selected company(ies).
- Backup
- Indicates if you selected to run the backup for the company.
- Reorganise
- Indicates if you selected to run the reorganisation for the company.
- Start date
- Enter the date when the job(s) should be executed. Note: If no date is entered, the job(s) will start immediately.
- Start time
- Enter the point of time when the job(s) should be executed. Note: If no time is entered, the job(s) will start immediately.
