Constant translation (IPCD0021)

This panel displays, after you have selected a type, all the constants for that type in alphabetical order. You can translate them member by member, or enter a general translation for all members with the same constant. By clicking General/Member you toggle between these two modes. You can limit the constants displayed by entering a scan character.

Function keys

New/Old Toggle between listing New and Old constants according to the entered scan character(s) if you have selected All mode by toggling Not translated/All.

  • If you select New, the translated constants that are in accordance with the scan characters will be displayed.
  • If you select Old, the not translated constants that are in accordance with the scan characters(s) will be displayed.

The mode you are working in is displayed within brackets next to Scan characters.

General/Member Toggle between General and Member translation modes.

  • If you select General, you can translate to one constant that is common for all members where the constant appears.
  • If you select Member, you can enter a specific translation for each constant per member.

The mode you are working in is displayed in the top right corner of the panel.

Not translated/All Toggle between listing Not translated and All constants.

The mode you are working in is displayed in the top right corner of the panel.

Show screens Displays the original panel(s) where the constant is used. You can then check if the constant can be prolonged without disarranging the panel. To be able to see the panel(s), you must select a constant by entering a scan character, and you may not use a character of type *a*, only type a* is valid.

Selected type
Enter the code for the constant type you want to maintain:

Valid codes are:

Code Description
1 This code represents all the Program titles, displayed on the top line of the panels. This field can be translated to another constant with up to 40 characters. You must end the translation when you come to the “¤” sign.
2 This code represents all the Panel id’s, displayed in the top right corner of the panels. These constants should normally not be translated, but if they are, you may only use up to 8 characters. You must end the translation when you come to the “¤” sign.
3 This code represents the Field texts which are displayed before the input fields on the panel. According to the DC1 standards they are 12 or 20 characters long:

  • For 12 character long constants, the starting position on the panels must be 2, 29 or 56, indicating three columns on the panel.
  • For 20 character long constants, the starting position on the panels must be 2 or 41, indicating two columns on the panel.

If a field does not start in any of these positions, it will not be presented under type 3 constants, but will instead be displayed as type 4.

You must end the translation when you come to the “¤” sign.

4 This code represents the Column headings, Function key texts, and all Field texts that are not in accordance with the standards for constant type 3.

You must end the translation when you come to the “¤” sign.

5 This code represents the Printer file constants that are described externally. Since these constants are retrieved from the printer files, you cannot click Show screens to display any panels.

You must end the translation when you come to the “¤” sign.

Scan characters
Enter a character string to scan in the file, either for old constants or for new ones. You can scan in two different ways:
  • You can scan on the Curr* string, and all the constants starting with Curr are displayed in the listing (note the difference between “Curr” and “curr”).
  • You can scan on the string *urr*, and all the constants containing “urr” are displayed in the listing, i.e. both “Curr” and “curr” are displayed.

_________
Enter a translation for the constant, either a general one or one per member. If you translate per member, the panel id and program title is displayed for all the panels where the constant is used. For constants of type 1, 2 and 3 you must end the translation when you come to the “¤” sign, but for constant type 4 and 5, you can prolong the translation beyond the sign. You will then be asked to justify the translated constant to the right or to the left.

Enter R/L to justify
This field is only displayed for translated constants of type 4 and 5 that are longer than the original constant. Enter R to justify the constant to the right on the panel, or enter L for a justification to the left.
