The following describes what happens in the Time axis file during the re-planning in update mode. The first group of information (in tables) outlines the purchase order selected in and the sales order lines that contain these items. The second group of information (graphical illustrations) outlines the “movement” or actions taken during the re-planning for each sales order line.

The re-planning in update mode can be performed in four different steps, depending on the sales orders included, whereby the Time axis file can be updated as follows:
1 = Normal replanning
- Sales order line 10585/20 is moved from 250312 to 230312 because of the arrival of purchase order line 80129/20.
- Sales order line 10585/30 is moved from 240312 to 290312 because of the arrival of purchase order line 80129/30.
- Sales order line 10586/10 is moved from 250312 to 260312 because of the arrival of purchase order line 80129/40.
- Sales order line 10604/20 is moved from 250312 to 280312 because of the arrival of purchase order line 80129/60.
2 = Re-planning of order structures because of critical components
- Sales order line 10585/20 is moved from 230312 to 290312 because this is the dispatch date of the critical component on sales order line 10585/30 (re-planned under 1). This is the first date that the entire structure can be delivered.
3 = Re-planning of lines because of complete delivery
- Sales order line 10604/10 is moved from 250312 to 280312 because the other line for the order (20) was re-planned to that date (see 1). This is the first possible date for complete delivery.
4 = Second normal replanning after structure and complete delivery replanning
- Sales order line 10586/10 is moved from 260312 to 230312. This is because sales order line 10585/20 was moved in the structure re-planning (2) and thereby released the reservation of the quantity for purchase order line 80129/20.
