You would use the Work with inventory, Warehouse movement routine whenever goods are to be moved from one warehouse to another, without printing any documents, (e.g., if you have several logical warehouses within the same building).
Note: If you want to print documents when you move stock between warehouses, you use the Internal Replenishment Order (IRO) routine. See About creating internal replenishment orders (DC1 Stock Control).
Serialized tracking for batch controlled items
When moving stock for batch controlled items you will be required to select a unique serialized tracking ID per stock unit if the SERTRACK (Serialized tracking) function is activated in Work with function controls and the batch controlled item is flagged for serialized tracking.
Transit stock
You can also use this routine to move goods from transit stock to normal stock, between warehouses or within the same warehouse. Transit stock is registered when the Back to Back (BtB) routine is used to deliver goods, from your supplier to your end customer, via the transit stock area of your warehouse. If the quantity delivered to your customer is less than the quantity received from the supplier, the remaining quantity is stored in your transit stock as surplus.
Note: You cannot sell goods that are located in transit stock. You can only move the goods to normal stock by using the Work with inventory, Warehouse movement routine, or decrease the amount of goods by entering an inventory transaction. See Enter inventory transactions for the latter.
NCC stock movements
Note: To manage inventory movements to NCC stock, from NCC stock or between different NCC categories, (which is only allowed for Trade and Normal warehouses), see About non-conformity stock.
Created transactions
The transactions created from this process immediately update, throughout the system, the time axis and stock-on-hand values for the warehouses involved in the transaction. All transactions entered are stored in the Inventory transaction file which you can view at any time.
