Work with depreciation types (AACD10104)
These entries are used to define the depreciation methods that should be used, with depreciation schedules and calculation base. You also define, by a sequence number, in which order they are to be applied. Up to nine types can be established.
Function keys
- Depreciation type
- Internal sequence
- Enter a sequence number between 1 and 9 for each depreciation type. The sequences are only used when the depreciation types are to be sorted on displays and listings, so the main depreciation type does not have to be number 1.
- Description
Periods
- Depr schedule
- Set to YES for all accounting periods for which this depreciation type should apply. If not valid for a period, then set to NO. The last period is mandatory, and should be used single-handedly if you want to create a type only on a yearly basis.
- Allow alternative
- Indicate if you want to connect an alternative depreciation rule to this depreciation type. The alternative rule is only for comparison, and will not create any transactions. The depreciations according to the alternative rule can be printed for analysis on the Alternative depreciation comparison list. The alternative rules are set up per asset type and group in Work with asset types and groups, and can be specified further per asset in the Asset file.
- External depr
- Set to YES if this depreciation type should be used for external depreciation, i.e. the depreciations will affect balances. Set to NO for an internal depreciation type which should only be used for distribution of cost accounting or simulation.
- Last depr period
- This field will be automatically updated as the depreciations are run. If changed, then you may run a depreciation of this type more than once for the same period.
- Residual values
- Indicate if the residual values of the asset, i.e. acquisition amount less the sum of the depreciation opening balance and the depreciation YTD, should be displayed when this depreciation type is used. YES is defaulted.
- Min depreciation
- Enter the minimum depreciation amount per individual asset in system currency. If the amount is less than minimum, then the minimum amount will be used as depreciation amount, and depreciation will be stopped until the minimum amount has been reached again.
- Min residual value
- Enter the minimum residual value per individual asset in system currency. This residual value only refers to the external depreciation types. The entire amount will be depreciated in the last depreciation period if the residual value left on the asset is less than the minimum residual value.
- Calculation base
- Enter the calculation base for this depreciation type.
Code Description 1 Number of normal periods (most common base) 2 360 days 3 365 days
