The entries in this panel are used in the Item file for automatic or manual creation of search fields. They are also used in the Rebuild item search fields program.
The types 00-99 are predefined and loaded when the system is installed. These types cannot be deleted. Each type corresponds to a field in the Item file. For example, type 15 is the Main supplier field.
For each type, you define if the search field should be created automatically in the Item file when you add new items and when you run the Rebuild item search fields program. For manually created types (all types except 00-99) you also define if the field should be removed when you run the Rebuild item search fields program.
Note: If you manually add a type which should correspond to a data base field, this will not cause automatic creation of search words in the Item file. Also, in the Item file you have to create the search fields manually.
In addition, this function can be used in a limited manner to setup database fields. By creating an alpha search type, this field can be used in a limited function.

Function keys
- Type
- Build search fields
- If the type is 00-99, indicates if search fields are automatically created for the type when you add new items. This field can be changed. Note: If you enter a type manually in the Type field, this code must be set to NO.
If the type is 11 (item description) and this field is set to YES, then every time you add a new item, one or several search fields containing the value in the Description field in the Item file will be created automatically. If the item description is X47BE RED WAGON, three search fields will be created: X47BE, RED and WAGON. This in turn means that you can enter X47BE, RED or WAGON in the Item enquiry to find all items with these words in the description.
In addition, the Search field delimiter table controls the characters which can also be used as delimiters.
If the type is not 00-99, indicates if manual creation of search fields with this type is allowed in the Work with items program.
- Remove at rebuild
- This field is only used for manually created types (i.e. not types 00-99). Indicates if existing search fields in the Item file with this type should be removed when the Rebuild item search fields program is run.
