The inventory calculation includes the calculation of the purchase control values for each item/warehouse combination in the selection. The purchase control values are forecast, economic order quantity (EOQ), safety stock (SST), and reorder point (ROP). When you execute this routine, you update:
- the Forecast file with period forecasts
- the Item file with year forecast, EOQ, ROP, and SST
Note: The economic order quantity (EOQ), safety stock (SST), and reorder point (ROP) are only calculated for items that are defined with item class 1 (stock item, standard) in the Item file. For all other items, these values will be zero.
A calculation control report containing information on the calculation errors is printed.
- Select the Start inventory calculations menu item.
- You access Inventory calculations. Note: You can also access this panel through the Job schedule file. See About scheduling periodical jobs for more information.
Select items to calculate
By entering ranges or stating individual values for the available selection fields you define what information is to be included in the inventory calculation.
Specification
The following fields are mandatory:
- Forecast period
- You can change the forecast period. It cannot be greater than the present period or less than the last historical period in the system. If you choose a historical period, then the system recalculates the forecast from the specified period up to and including the present period, and for all future forecast periods. The calculation of EOQ, ROP, and SST is always done for the present period.
- Calc from SOP/DP
- Only shown if DC1 Sales and Operation Plan or DC1 Demand Plan is installed and activated. Indicate if the calculation should be done from a sales and operation plan (SOP) or a demand plan.
- Create supply plan
- Only shown if DC1 Supply Plan is installed and activated. Indicate if a supply plan should be created based on the inventory calculation.
- Create lower level
- Only shown if DC1 Supply Plan and DC1 Manufacturing are installed and activated. Indicate if lower levels should be created for the supply plan. Note: This field can only be set to YES if Create supply plan is YES.
- Lead time adjustment
- Only shown if DC1 Supply Plan and DC1 Manufacturing are installed and activated. Indicate if requirements on lower levels should take the lead time into consideration when allocating the requirement date. Note: This field can only be set to YES if Create supply plan is YES.
- Retrieve supply plan
- Only shown if DC1 Supply Plan and DC1 Manufacturing are installed and activated. Indicate if the forecast should be retrieved from a supply plan in order to override the forecast that has been calculated within DC1 Inventory Control. If this field is set to YES and no supply plan is found, then the forecast will instead be calculated within DC1 Inventory Control.
Click OK to run the calculation. Exit the routine.
