Define an alternative bill of routing for a configurable item

An alternative bill of routing can be used if an operation cannot be performed in the usual work centre. You might, for example, have different work centres for the painting of different colours, or machines that are suitable for producing different quantities of material. If this is the case, you can define alternative bill of routings for the painting of different colours or the use of different machines. The alternative bill of routing will automatically be retrieved during the product configuration process.

Prerequisites
The bill of routing must be set up in the system before it can be defined as an alternative bill of routing for an item. See Add a configurator bill of routing and Add an operation to a configurator bill of routing for instructions.

  1. Select the Work with configurator items menu item.
  2. On the initial panel, select the configurator item to which you want to add an alternative bill of routing and click Change.
  3. You access Configurator item maintenance. Click the Alternative bill of routing function key.
  4. You access Configurator item maintenance, Alternative bill of routing. Complete the following fields:
    5. Seq no
    Enter a sequence number indicating the order in which the alternative bill of routing is presented. The sequence numbers should be registered in intervals of 10.
    Bill of routing
    Enter a code indicating the alternative bill of routing.

    Enter information in the following fields if you want alternative bill of routings for specific quantities:

    Test
    Enter the comparison (EQ, GE, GT, LE, or LT) to be used to check the contents of the ordered quantity. If this field is left blank the ordered quantity will not be used when searching for alternative operation lists.
    Quantity
    Enter the quantity to be compared with quantity ordered.

    Click OK to update. Select the bill of routine for which you want to enter additional selections and click Additional selections.

  5. You access the next Configurator item maintenance, Alternative bill of routing panel where you define the conditions that allow usage of this alternative bill of routing. The bill of routing will only be used if the values that are selected at product configuration meet the conditions defined in the following fields:
    6. Test
    Enter a code indicating what test operand to be used when comparing the attribute values selected at product configuration with those defined for this alternative bill of routing in the Value from-to field. Note: If this field is left blank the attribute will not be included in the comparison with the values selected at product configuration.
    Value from/to
    Enter a single value (from) or a range of values (from-to) belonging to this attribute. These values, in combination with the test operand defined in the Test field, define the conditions for when this alternative bill of routing should be used.
    Note: If the Test field is set to RA (Within range of values), a range of values must be entered.

    Click OK.

  6. You return to the first Configurator item maintenance, Alternative bill of routing panel. The Additional selections column denotes that additional selections have been made for this configurator item. Exit the routine.
