- Select the Work with Material Safety Data Sheets menu item.
- On the initial panel, click Add.
- You access Work with Material Safety Data Sheets, Basic Data. Complete the following fields:
- MSDS
- Enter a name for the new MSDS you wish to create.
- Description
- Enter a description for this MSDS.
- Version date
- Enter the date on which this record was created. Remember that this must be changed each time an MSDS requires an update. In addition to this, the version number below will also need to be modified.
- Version number
- Enter a version number for the new record. Again, this will be changed at a later time, when an update is necessary. Since this is a new record, the version is 1. Note: It is imperative that the version number and date are changed when changes are made to an MSDS as the system uses these to determine which MSDS should be automatically sent to customers. Remember the supplier of dangerous goods is required to provide an updated copy of each MSDS that refers to dangerous goods sold to its customers.
- Handling status
- Enter a handling status for this MSDS from the Handling status table. Note: For an item that has an MSDS attached to it to be used on a sales order, the handling status of the MSDS must have Valid in sales order set to YES. It is recommended that a handling status of NONE be created that is not valid in any process and is used for all MSDS until they have been compiled.
Click OK to save and exit.
You are now able to add details to your MSDS, as outlined in Create sections and sub-sections.
