When you secure an application, all menu items within the application are secured. Note: Applications to secure can be found in the Application definition table. Only active applications can be secured.

You secure an application through Work with authority groups from where you activate the authority check control. The control program can be activated for interactive programs, printouts, menu items and for application control. You can activate the control for those routines that are pre-loaded in Work with authority routines. This program is pre-loaded with the authority groups supported by the system. Initially, your authority groups are defaulted with an object control program and are not activated for control.

  • Menu control
  • Menu item control
  • Query groups
  • Account parts
  • Summary ID’s
  1. Select the Work with authority groups menu item.
  2. On the main panel, select the group *APCDMNU (Application control) and click Change.
  3. You access the detail panel. Complete the following fields:
  4. Active group
    Set to YES to activate the group for authority control.
    Default value
    Indicate the default for the authority control by entering one of the following values:
    Code Description
    0 There will be no authority check if a user accesses an object within the group.
    1 An authority check will be done if any user accesses an object from the group. Default value 1 equals that everybody has access to the object.
    2 An authority check will be done if any user accesses an object from the group. Default value 2 equals that nobody has access to the object.
    3 This default value is used when you are using this table to perform an authority check on AS/400 – iSeries objects. The authority group must be equal to the AS/400 – iSeries object type and as authority routine you must have AS400.

    Click OK.

  5. You return to the main panel. Select the same authority group and click Routines.
  6. You access Work with authority groups, Routines. Click Add to add a new routine.
  7. You access the detail panel. Complete the following fields:
  8. Routine
    Enter the routine you want to secure.
    Description
    The system retrieves the description from Work with authority routines.
    Secured
    Set to YES.

    Click OK and then Back.

  9. You return to the Work with authority groups main panel. Select the same authority group and click Objects.
  10. You access Work with authority groups, Objects. Click Add.
  11. You access the detail panel. Complete the following fields:
  12. Object
    Enter the object name, e.g. FIN.
    Description
    Enter the description of the object.
    Default value
    Enter the default value that will apply to the object. Valid values are:
    Value Description
    0 There will be no authority check if a user accesses an object within the group.
    1 An authority check will be done if any user accesses an object from the group. Default value 1 equals that everybody has access to the object.
    2 An authority check will be done if any user accesses an object from the group. Default value 2 equals that nobody has access to the object.

    Click OK and then Back.

  13. You return to the previous panel. Select the object you added and click Object details.
  14. You access Work with authority groups, Object details. Click Add to create authority details for the object.
  15. You access the detail panel. Complete the following fields:
  16. User
    Enter the user for which you want to assign or reject authority.
    Routine
    Enter the applicable routine.
    Authority
    Indicate if the user should have authority to access the object.

    Click OK to update. Exit the routine.
