The purpose of this program is to allow you to segment items into specific volume value classes. By classifying items in this manner, you can then define the methods for calculating forecast, EOQ, ROP, and SST according to volume value classification, in the Inventory control code programs.
In addition, you can assign purchase review criteria for deciding if a line on a purchase suggestion should be reviewed before being converted to a purchase order. (This is done in Work with purchase review control codes.)
Some of the parameters used here are defined in the IC control file. They are the segmentation price, what the percentage value will be based on, and whether items are segmented within each warehouse or on the company level.
The items are segmented into the classes defined here when Inventory segmentation is executed. For each item/warehouse combination, a volume value code is assigned on the Item file/Inventory management panel.

Function keys
- Code
- Enter an alphabetic code to be used for this volume value class.
- Description
- Enter a description of the code.
- Percentage
- Enter the percentage value for this volume value class. This value cannot exceed 100.
This percentage can represent either the percentage of total volume value or the percentage of total number of item/warehouse combinations, depending on how you defined the Volume % code in the IC control file.
The Volume % code that is active at this time is displayed in the header of the previous panel, along with the total percentage.
