The purpose of this program is to calculate product cost for one item structure at the time. You can calculate cost with normal cost prices or with entered simulation prices in the Simulation price files. You can also test a new entered cost model before it becomes active in the system.
- Calculation date
- The calculation date for validation if current or new prices and overhead should be used at retrieving costing values for different tables. If the purpose for the calculation is to update standard cost on item the calculation must be set to current date.
- Item
- The code that identifies the item for which product costing should be run. The item must be defined with type 1 or 2.
- Warehouse
- Variant
- Std quant prod cost
- Mandatory entry if Simulate std qty ll is set to YES. The quantity indicates the base for the product costing. If no quantity is entered the normal standard quantity product costing is retrieved from the selected item (i.e. the Standard quantity PC field on the Manufacturing information panel in the Item file). Leave this field blank if the purpose for the calculation is to update standard cost on item.
Note: If you change the defaulted value, you will only be able to use the new product cost in simulation mode (i.e. the result may not be saved as the updated product cost). You can, however, then view the output as a list via the Product costing enquiry and at any time update the costs be creating a BOM/BOR via the enquiry or the Product costing online, Overview program.
- Simulate std qty ll
- Indicates if the standard quantity should be simulated for lower levels. If this field is set to YES, the product costing will be based on the same standard quantity for the entire item structure. The simulated quantity for the lower levels will be calculated from the quantity entered in the Std quant prod cost field and the quantity entered for the sub-assemblies in the item structure. That is, if 10 is entered in Std quant prod cost and the required quantity for a sub-assembly is 25, the simulated standard quantity for that sub-assembly will be 250. If this field is set to NO, the standard quantity for the lower levels will be retrieved from the Standard quantity PC field in the Item file.
- Calc with std qty PC
- The default value in this field is retrieved from the MFG control file. Indicates if the standard cost should be calculated using the Standard quantity PC instead of the Stock unit from the Item file. If this field is set to YES, the product costing element will be presented according to the standard quantity for PC, but the update to the Item file will be made by stock unit.
- Calculate one level
- This field is set to NO by default. Indicate if only the selected item will be calculated.
If set to YES, the sub-assembly’s cost will be retrieved from the Item file according to the selected item cost type. In addition, it will not be possible to save/update the cost as current cost. It will only be possible to save as simulation.
- Cost model
- The default value in this field is retrieved from the MFG control file. Leave as it is if the purpose for the calculation is to update standard cost on item.
- Display unit
- Indicate if the quantities should be presented according to the stock unit or structure unit.
- Item cost type
- The default value in this field is retrieved from the Item cost type pc field in the MFG control file. Leave as is to use this method to retrieve the component prices when running your product costing calculation. Alternatively, change to the method that you want the system to use when calculating the product’s standard cost. Note: If you change the default value in this field (and/or change the value in Std quant prod cost above) you will only be able to use the new product cost in simulation mode (i.e. the result may not be saved as the updated product cost).
Code Description 1 Average cost 2 Standard cost 3 FIFO 4 Simulation cost: The simulation prices are retrieved from tables for item cost, material overhead and work centre prices. If no values are found in tables, standard costs are used. (The costs will not actually be updated, but can instead be saved as a simulation. You can then view the output as a list via the Product costing enquiry and at any time update the costs by creating a BOM/BOR via the enquiry or the Product costing online, Overview program.) 5 Last pur price: Cost will first be retrieved from Last purchase price. If Last purchase price is zero, Average cost will be used. If Average cost is zero, standard cost will be used.
- Work centre price
- The default value in this field is retrieved from the Item w c price type field in the MFG control file. Leave as is to use this method to retrieve the work centre prices when running your product costing calculation. Alternatively, change to the method that you want the system to use when calculating the product’s standard cost.
Note: If you change the default value in this field (and/or change the value in Std quant prod cost above) you will only be able to use the new product cost in simulation mode (i.e. the result may not be saved as the updated product cost).
Code Description 1 Standard 2 Actual 3 Simulation (The costs will not actually be updated, but can instead be saved as a simulation. You can then view the output as a list via the Product costing enquiry and at any time update the costs by creating a BOM/BOR via the enquiry or the Product costing online, Overview program.)
