Running the system currency conversion

Related topics

The following describes the process of changing the system currency in a company by converting the entire DC1 database. All applicable fields held in system currency in the database, on transaction level as well as balance level, will be recalculated using the fixed exchange rate that you enter when you run this routine. In those instances where it is possible to recreate the balances from detail, this will be done to ensure a more precise and accurate result, rather than converting the balance.

The system currency conversion of the database for a company consists of the following steps:

Manual routines

Automatic routines

Before you proceed with the instructions, make sure that you have read and followed the instructions in About system currency conversion planning.

Caution: Remember that a complete backup of the system should be taken before the conversion is run.

Note: This routine should be run by a DC1 consultant or by the System Administrator at you company under the supervision of a DC1 consultant.

Note: No fields holding exchange rate information on transaction level will be converted to show the new exchange rate relation since this should be handled through the separate Change base currency and/or reverse exchange rates routine, if applicable. See About base currency and reversed rate handling for more information. This routine must be run separately, either before or after the system currency conversion, unless it has been run earlier, i.e. the base currency has already been changed to EUR.

Follow-up
See About post system currency conversion tasks for further information of follow-up procedures after the conversion.
