There are several pricing and discounting options available for the keys you defined in the Normal sales method type (see Pricing options for normal method type and Discounting options for normal method type below).
- Select the Work with Sales pricing methods menu item.
- On the initial panel, click Add.
- Complete the following fields:
- Pricing method
- Enter a unique code to identify the sales pricing method that you are defining.
- Description
- Enter a description of the method.
- Type
- Select/enter N for Normal.
- Sequence
- Enter a sequence number from 1-99999. The number that you enter specifies the order in which the prices and discounts are searched within each type. The sequence is from first to last, i.e. sequence 1 will be read before sequence 99999.
- Valid from date
- Optional but recommended if you want to keep and track price history and retrieve, (via the Sales pricing keys where-used enquiry), actual prices and discounts by date. This field is also used to implement short term pricing. If applicable, you can define the validity dates on this level or on detail level. Enter the date from which the price or discount will be valid. If a value is entered, an end date must be specified in the Valid to date (below).
- Valid to date
- Optional but recommended if you want to keep and track price history and retrieve, (via the Sales pricing keys where-used enquiry), actual prices and discounts by date. This field is also used to implement short term pricing. If applicable, you can define the validity dates on this level or on detail level. Enter the date to which the price or discount will be valid. If a value is entered, a starting date must be specified in the Valid from date (above).
- Level
- This value is retrieved from the preloaded Sales pricing method types table. Indicates the level at which the price or discount is applied for this method. Valid levels are H = Header or L = Line.
- Order summ disc type
- This value is retrieved from the preloaded Sales pricing method types table. Indicates if this method will produce a discount that is applied during order summary discount calculation. (If this flag is set to False then the method will produce price/discount/FOC during the normal sales price calculation for a line). The level at which the discount is applied is indicated in the Level field above.
- Stop search discount
- All Pricing and discounts are read according to their sequence number, which can be any number between 1-99999. The sequence number specifies the order in which prices and discounts are searched, i.e. sequence 1 will be read before sequence 99999. However, a search for the retrieval of more pricing and discounts can be interrupted if this field is set to True. For example, if the pricing program is searching within type N-Normal method and encounters a Stop search it will not search any more N-methods. It will, however, still search other discounts like, e.g., C-chain discount if the flag for Chain discounts is set to True.
Indicate if you want the system to stop the search at the first price or discount found.
- Claimable
- This field is only displayed if the DC1 Supplier Marketing Support (SMS) application is activated. The DC1 SMS application provides the functionality that allows your company to claim rebates from your suppliers/manufacturers. The rebate claims can be derived from a cost or a customer discount. If the sales pricing method creates discounts that you want to eventually claim, set this field to True. Note: It is not possible to set this field to True if you have a FOC item set-up. See About DC1 Supplier Marketing Support (SMS) for instructions on setting up the functionality and claiming the discounts.
- Chain discounts
- This flag is only valid for Sales pricing methods of type N (Normal). Set this flag to True if chain discounts can be applied on top of prices and discounts generated from this “Normal” Sales pricing method.
- Note: The actual chain discounts to be applied are set up as a Sales Pricing method type C (Chain discount). See Set up a chain discount method and define the discounting for instructions.
- Promotions
- If you want the sales pricing method to be eligible for promotional pricing, (i.e. being allowed to be compared against prices from sales promotions), set the Promotions flag to YES. When a price is automatically retrieved for a sales order line, the retrieved price will be compared to the pricing from a sales promotion, if such promotion pricing exists, to get the lowest price. If the Promotions flag is set to NO, no comparison against promotion pricing will take place.
- Order summary disc
- This flag is only valid for Sales pricing methods of type N (Normal), C (Chain) and/or P (Promotion). Set this flag to True if Order summary discounts can be applied on top of prices and discounts generated from this “Normal” sales pricing method.
- Note: The actual order summary discounts to be applied are set up as a Sales Pricing method type O (Order line summary discount) or H (Header discount). See Set up an order line summary discount method and define the discounting and Set up a header discount method and define the discounting, respectively, for instructions.
- Key (1-5)
- Enter up to five pricing keys that can be used in your selection criteria for applying the pricing and/or discounting. Only those that have been activated for Pricing in the DIS control keys table are valid for selection. You enter the actual values for these keys when defining the details. The first pricing key is the Primary pricing key. It is denoted by letter P and enables you to find the pricing method details in a sales price calculation routine, in the case when the combination of all defined pricing keys do not give any result.
- Highlight the applicable sales pricing method of type N and click Details and then Add to define the pricing details.
- You access the Normal details panel. Complete the following information:
- Key value
- Up to five pricing keys can be displayed. These are the Key 1-Key 5 fields that were selected on the first Sales pricing methods panel. The name of this (these) field(s) will correspond to the key chosen on the initial panel. Select the applicable value upon which the pricing and/or discounting will be applied.
- Currency

Click OK to update and return to the initial panel.
