View the DB audit log file
- Select the Database audit log file enquiry program.
- You access DB audit log file enquiry. Select the record you wish to view in detail and click OK.
- On the detail panel, the following information is displayed for the selected record:
- Field name
- The name of the field that has been changed.
- Field value
- The value in the field.
- Sequence
- Can display Before update, After update, New record and Deleted record depending on the change.
- User
- The user ID of the person who made the change.
- Creation date and time
- Displays when the change was made.
- Updating program
- The name of the program where the changes were made.
- You access DB audit log information display. The layout of this panel depends on your layout. See Define the layout for the DB audit log file enquiry for more information. The header provides you with detailed information about the record. Click Before/After to toggle before and after update. The fields where changes were made will be updated.
Use Display next and Display previous to view the next or previous record. For the purpose of this example, click Display transaction to view all changes that were made at one time for the fields in the file.
Print the DB audit log file
Complete the following steps:
- Select the Print DB audit log file menu item.
- You access DB audit log file printout:
- Sequence
- The first four fields are used for sequencing the printout.
- Selection
- The first four fields are used for data selection whereas the following four fields are used for status selection.
- Complete the fields according to the printer settings.
Click OK.
Printout explanation
The two first columns identify the file. The next two columns are the field identifier and its description. The Identity column heading lists the value of the identifying field in the record. In the Field value columns there will be entries if the value of the field have been changed. The rightmost column displays the kind of change that has been carried out, for example new.
Delete log transactions
It is important to periodically delete the transactions in the log file. How often you should do this depends on the number of files and fields activated for DBAM and the amount of records that change.
- Select the Delete DB audit log transactions menu item.
- You access DB audit – log transaction deletion. Complete the fields according to your needs and click OK.
