You access several panels in succession when you enter or maintain an asset, and each one has a specific purpose. Most panels are only needed under certain circumstances. These are all the panels that exist:
| Panel | Description |
|---|---|
| New asset panel | This is where you set the asset number for the asset, either by defaulting it from the asset type and group, or by entering it manually. |
| Asset basic information panel | This is where you enter basic information for the asset. This panel must be completed for all assets in the system and it should have sequence number 1. |
| Asset additional panel | This is where you enter additional information for the asset. This panel has to be used if you would like to link an investment budget to an asset. See About working with investment budgets for more information. |
| Location & user fields panel | This is where you enter location and user-defined fields for the asset. If any of the user-defined fields are mandatory this panel must be included when adding new assets to the Asset file. |
| Service & insurance information panel | This is where you enter service and insurance information for the asset. If there is a policy control this panel must be included when adding new assets to the Asset file. See About working with service and About working with insurance for more information. |
| Technical information panel | This is where you enter technical information and the technical form for the specific asset type and group. If the technical information is mandatory this panel must be included when adding a new asset to the Asset file. |
| Depreciation types panels | This is where you enter depreciation information per depreciation type for the asset. The panels for all valid types will be shown automatically when adding new assets, whether they have been selected or not. The available depreciation types depend on the types set up in your system. |
The following proposed depreciation types are preloaded:
- Depreciation type PLAN, Depreciation according to plan
- Depreciation type TAX, Depr acc to tax legislation
- Depreciation type COST, Costing depreciation
- Depreciation type CAP, Cost of capital
Note: Since this is an example, the depreciation types might be different in your system. See About working with depreciations for more information.
Note: For more information on the calculations that provide the base for depreciations in DC1 Asset Management, see About calculations.
