You can connect any type of file, (e.g., documents (.txt, /l, .doc, .xls),.images, sound, etc.), to your components in Business Performance Director.
The instructions outlined below are for documents. The same procedure is applicable for any other kind of multimedia.
Connecting documents
You may deem it necessary to connect documents, outlining the numerous ROI calculation formulas, to be accessible by everyone for internal purposes.

Do as follows:
- Create a folder anywhere on your machine (server is recommended).
- Create your documents and store them in the folder.
- Access Manage media locations from the System Administration menu in DC1 Analyser. Create a new media location for your documents or use an existing.
- In Business Performance Director, create a new connection from the applicable component to the document:
- Right click on a component
- Select Component/Related documents/Manage.
- Create a new.
- On the Multimedia connections to… window, complete the following fields:
- Sequence
- Enter the order in which you want the documents to be displayed.
- Description
- User-defined
- Media location
- Select the media type and location from the drop down list.
- File name
- Enter the file name or click Browse to locate the file.
- Default connection
- Select if you want this file to be the default connection.
Tip: If you plan to create documents containing the applicable formulas, you can copy and paste the formula information outlined in Business Performance Director calculation reference.
Click Save.
Viewing Documents
To view the documents, right click on the component in the BPD workspace and select Components/Related documents/Show.
