Working with browsers in DC1 Analyser

The following functions are standard for most browsers:

Function Description
Retrieval of values Clicking Find to retrieve all values, alternatively limit the search by first completing search arguments and then clicking Find.
Define the number of records displayed after search via the Find button This is only allowed if you have enabled this function (i.e. in the Allowed to change page size in browser views field on the iSeries page within the Configuration view window. You access this via System Administration/Configuration).
Sorting the columns The column sort function will only be enabled if the table is loaded with all records within the entered selection.
Configure advanced selection This allows you to decide what data you want to retrieve (selection) and the arrival sequence of the data. The following can also be done with an advanced selection:

  • If you make a selection of a field during the configuration, you can also choose to prompt the advanced selection at run time and override the value for the selection. This will allow you to toggle different views of information in the browser, depending on the value you choose.
  • If you enable the option to display an overview window of all advanced selections, you will be able to view the detailed configuration for each advanced selection before running one. This is useful if you have configured many advanced selections and/or are running an advanced selection for the A/R, A/P or G/L enquiries.
  • If you have created a specific table view for a table (See Create a new table view in DC1 Analyser for instructions) you can connect the advanced selection to the table view when you save the selection.
Adding additional columns All browsers, by default, display specific primary columns in the table. You can always add additional columns to the table, thereby customising the data you want to view. The added column(s) will become part of the list of columns that you can Activate/Inactivate. You can also view additional details for new columns. Note: Some of the system-defined columns may be deactivated by default.
Add fields from other files This function requires extensive knowledge of the DC1 Database structure and the relationship between fields and files. You can add more fields from files that are currently used by Analyser. If the required file is not yet used, you can download the definition for the new file from DC1. The definition for this new file will be stored on your local hard-drive. No download will be necessary in the future. You can then add this field as a new column in the browser and choose to make this column valid when configuring an advanced selection.
