Create and run query groups in DC1 Analyser

In a Balance enquiry template, you enter one key combination. If there is a summary level, you will retrieve data according to what columns you have defined in the template.

With Query groups, you can enter several key combinations at the same time. A query group is always associated with a template, but only the column definition part of the template will be used, since the keys are provided in the query group.

Note: Although no summary level is required with query groups, it will improve response time if one is defined.

There are two types of query groups:

  • Normal query groups: This is a fixed definition of a query group, which is centrally maintained and accessible for running by many users.
  • Quick query groups that you can define on the fly. The name of this query group is automatically generated by the system (i.e. your user profile id). This type of query group is defined in the same manner as the normal. The advantage, however, is that the query selections are specific for your user profile only, allowing you to change your filter on the fly.

Create and run a normal query group

  1. Access the Balance enquiry.
  2. Select Query groups/Manage.
  3. Note: The query group you define will be based on the last selected Balance enquiry template. If you want to create a query group against another template, change the template (i.e. via Select templates).

  4. Click New
  5. You access the Query group edit view window. Complete the following fields:
  6. Code
    Description
    Period range
Select the From/To range of periods.
    Available keys
Select the keys you want to use and enter the From/To values and click OK.

Click Run to run the query group and view the data retrieved.

  7. You access the Balance totals view window where you see the total result.
    • Expand the Total to view the individual results.
    • Click the Show details icon to view the totals per period.
    • Click the Show transactions icon to drill down to view the following lower-level transactions:
      • DIS Invoice transactions
      • G/L transactions. This option is only available if the keys in the template are FIN related keys.
      • A/P transactions
      • A/R transactions

Create and run a quick query group

  1. Access the Balance enquiry.
  2. Select Query groups/Run quick group.
  3. You access the Run quick query group window. The Code and Description of the Quick query group are automatically created according to your User Profile. The key(s) of the Balance enquiry template are defaulted. Define your keys and selections and click Run to run the Quick query group.
  4. You access the Balance totals view window, where you can drill down to view the values per key.
