Work with a planner’s collection view

Related topics

The data displayed on the Planner collection view panel can be useful for a planner when making different decisions for changes in the demand plan per period, and also enables the planner to follow up on this work in coming periods. The number of historical periods that can be shown in the view is defined by the History years parameter in the IC control file. Values for future periods are shown one year ahead.

Normally, the data in the columns is retrieved from a work file. See Create a work file for a planner’s collection view for more information. But, if the reference is PRDC (Item), then the data is retrieved from the base files; the Forecast file, Customer demand file and Sales statistics item lines file.

The Planner collection view panel can be accessed in two ways:

  • Through the Work with demand plans menu item. The Reference and Value field entries (the hierarchy key reference and its value) are defaulted from the selected demand plan. This is described below.
  • By selecting the Planner selection view menu item. In this case, the Reference and Value fields are empty.
  1. Select the Work with demand plans menu item.
  2. On the main panel, select the demand plan you want to work with and click Details.
  3. You access Work with demand plan, Level 1. Select the level and hierarchy key for which you want to view forecast, demand and statistics data and click Coll view.
  4. You access the Planner collection view. The Reference and Value fields contain the entries defaulted from the level where the option was selected, but can be changed. There are nine different lines with calculated column values available by default for the selected period interval:
    1. Demand; this is the total demand
    2. Deviation % previous period
    3. Forecast; this is the period forecast
    4. Deviation % previous period
    5. Deviation % against demand
    6. Statistics
    7. Deviation % previous period
    8. Deviation % against demand
    9. Deviation % against forecast
    10. Calc 1-2; these two are user-defined lines. They are available in the IC control file for you to define your own period values for the lines.

Toggle Year/Year sum/Period to change the columns to be shown as year interval, summarised per year or per period. You can also click Previous or Next to display the previous or next six periods.

  5. Click Forecast split to display the period according to forecast split.
  6. You access Planner collection view, Period for forecast split. Enter the period for which you want to view forecast split and click OK.
  7. The Forecast split panel displays the included quantities that build up the forecast. The following information is displayed:
    • Level forecast
    • Customer forecast
    • Demand plan forecast
    • Additional forecast
    • Speculation forecast
    • Supply plan
    • Sales and operation plan
    • Sales promotion
    • Production demand

    Exit the routine.
