This document describes what must be performed before you can work with the Cash Flow Manager (CFM) role in the Iptor PlannerView user interface.
See About Cash Flow Manager for a background description of the application. See also About navigating Cash Flow Manager to familiarise yourself with the working environment.
Prerequisites
Before you can start analysing the cash flow forecast, the following tasks must be completed:
- The setup instructions in Setting up Cash Flow Manager. These should be performed by a DC1 consultant or system administrator.
- The applicable Cash and Bank accounts to be included in the opening balance must be defined. See Select cash and bank accounts.
- The Opening balance for the defined cash and bank accounts must be collected from DC1. See Update opening balances for cash and bank accounts.
- Information about your customers’ previous payment behaviour and how you have previously paid your suppliers, referred to as Expected payment deviation days (EPDD), must be calculated. See Calculate expected payment deviation days for business partners.
- Information about Expected payments for sales and purchase orders, A/R and A/P transactions must be collected from DC1 and compiled. See Update expected payments for a cash flow forecast type.
Update procedures
The collection of Opening balances and Expected payments and the calculation of Expected payment deviation days, i.e., steps 3-5 above, can be started in two different ways:
- Automatically through scheduled batch jobs performed via the DC1 job control. This is strongly recommended in order to optimise performance.
- Manually by the user from the Cash Flow Manager role. See the tasks listed in Related topics below.
- when you want to start working with the CFM role before the scheduled batch jobs have been set up,
- if the scheduled batch job did not complete successfully for any reason, or
- if you only want to update the opening balance for a specific or a range of cash and bank accounts.
Note: The setup for scheduled batch jobs should be performed by a DC1 consultant or system administrator. See Setting up scheduled batch jobs for Cash Flow Manager for instructions.
Starting the update manually may be useful:
Note: In a normal installation where the update and collection jobs are initiated through scheduled batch jobs, the only task that must be completed by the user before working with the CFM role is the selection of cash and bank accounts. See Select cash and bank accounts.
