The constraints define certain combinations of attributes and values to be valid or invalid for a specific item. When entering a sales order for this item, an error message will be displayed if you select a combination of attributes and values that is invalid.
Prerequisites
The attributes you include in a constraint must have values defined in the system.
- Select the Work with configurator items menu item.
- On the initial panel you have two options from which to choose:
- If you have previously defined a type of constraint for the configurator item, you can access the validation panel directly by selecting the configurator item to which you want to add constraints clicking Validation. If this is the case, go to step 4.
- If you have not defined a type of constraint for the configurator item, select the configurator item to which you want to add constraints and click Change. If this is the case, proceed with step 3.
- You access Configurator item maintenance. Complete the following field:
- Type of constraints
- Enter 1 if the constraint is to be invalid or 2 if the constraint is to be valid.
- You access Configurator item maintenance, Validation. Click Add to add constraints to the configurator item.
- On the second Configurator item maintenance, Validation panel, complete the following fields:
- Constraint seq no
- Enter a sequence number identifying a set of attributes and values.
- Description
- Enter a description of the constraint.
- Test
- Enter a code indicating what test operand to be used when comparing the attribute values selected at product configuration with those defined in Value from-to on this panel.
- Value from/to
- Enter a single value (from) or a range of values (from-to) belonging to this attribute.
- You access the third Configurator item maintenance, Validation panel displaying the added constraints in sequential order. Click Add and repeat step 5 if you want to add more constraints. Exit the routine.
Click Validation to work with constraints.
Click OK to create the constraint and display the attributes of the selected parameter. The following fields define what combinations of values are valid or invalid at product configuration:
Click OK when you have defined the valid/invalid attribute values for the constraint.
