A delivery schedule profile determines the following:

  • Type of delivery schedule; choosing from Net forecast, Gross forecast or Net forecast information.
  • Frequency at which these are created.
  • How you want the delivery schedule to be sent or printed after creation (i.e. automatically or manually).
  • How to handle warnings that may occur when schedules are created.
  • Number of working days that are included in each schedule.
  1. Select the Delivery schedule profiles menu item.
  2. You access Work with delivery schedule profiles. Click Add.
  3. On the detail panel, complete the following fields:
  4. Schedule profile
Enter a six character long code for this schedule. This field may not be altered when updating this schedule at another time.
    Description
Enter a description of the schedule.
    Schedule type
Enter what type of schedule this should be, choosing from the following:
    Type Description
Net forecast This type of schedule entails that you, the customer, calculate the quantity and date on which goods are to be dispatched to yourselves. Purchase order lines are automatically created when you create a delivery schedule in these cases.
Gross forecast This type of schedule means that you supply information to your suppliers, in the form of stock-on-hand, minimum inventory levels, maximum inventory levels and sales forecasts. Using this information, your suppliers calculate the quantity and date of dispatch to you. No purchase orders are created in this situation. Note: This type of forecast may also be referred to as Supplier Management Inventory (SMI) or Vendor Management Inventory (VMI).
Net forecast information These types of schedules are similar to Net forecast, except that the information sent to your suppliers is used only as an advisory to assist them in their planning. You are not committed to the quantities and dates that are listed. You manually arrange purchase orders and no purchase order lines are therefore created automatically.
    No of days interval
Enter the number of working days that will pass before a new schedule is generated. Note: If you enter values in the Day of week or Date of Month fields (which are optional), they should comply with the value entered here.
    Days in schedule
Denotes the number of working days ahead that should be taken into account by the system, in planning stock requirements. For example, when a value of 7 is entered, the system will investigate the requirements that will be anticipated for the next seven days. The value entered here is added to the chosen start date and will determine for how long the system should make calculations.
    Send automatically
Depending on what value is entered in this field, the system will either send or print the schedule automatically after creation. Set to YES if you want this to be done automatically, or NO to do it manually.
    Send despite warning
Mandatory entry. Set to YES if you want the schedule to be sent in spite of any warnings that may have occurred during the creation process.
    Send empty schedule
In some cases you, the customer, do not have a demand for a supplier’s product. This means that the schedule that is created will be empty. If you set this field to YES, the schedule will be sent despite it being empty. If you set this field to NO, the schedule will not be sent.
    Send empty once
If you set this field to YES, empty schedules will be sent only once. Set to NO (blank) if you want an empty schedule to be sent continuously.

The following fields are optional, but can be used for precise definition of delivery schedules:

    Day of week 1-3
In these fields you are able to determine the day of the week that you wish to have the schedules created. If you, for example, enter 2, the schedules would be created every Tuesday. Up to three days in a week may be chosen. These fields are dependent on the value in No of days interval. Note: If a value is entered in one of these three fields, you may not enter a value in the Date of month fields.
    Date of month 1-3
In this field you are able to determine a particular date in the month on which you wish to have the schedules created. Up to three dates in the month may be chosen. These fields are dependent on the value in No of days interval. Note: If a value is entered in one of these three fields, you may not enter a value in the Day of week fields.

Click OK then exit the routine. Your delivery schedule profile is now configured, which means that you are now able to combine this with a supplier.
