You create quotations when you receive a request from your customers to provide prices for items they are considering purchasing.

There are two different ways of processing quotations, these are referred to as Quotation Type 1 and Quotation Type 2.

Type 1 This is used when the customer requests information about prices. If the customer accepts the prices a sales order is generated from the quotation.
Type 2 This is used when you promise the customer a special price, normally for one item. If the customer accepts the price a customer contract is generated from the quotation.

Quotations can be:

  • Entered manually
  • Copied from an existing quotation. You use this function when you want to create a new version of an existing quotation.
  • Copied to a customer contract
  • Copied to a sales order
